I don’t really bremember Champion the wonder horse, probably on when we were doing something or my sisters wanted to watch somehing else!..remember the time before video, never mind DVDs and rewinding telly!..I wasn’t keen on Aussie animals I didn’t like Tingah and Tucker either! lol
Just what do you think it was like when there was no TV?
As a hint: the first TV my parents had was a 9" screen (thats the same size as the original Apple Macintosh).
Now imagine trying to watch the Coronation on that (in a room full of people).
Geoff fabulous. I remember my parents getting their first black and white TV and my dad telling me that there were real people in there. I believed him and worried about them.
I remember Champion the Wonder Horse but does anyone remember Flipper? He was a dolphin and my mum didn’t realise until years later that that was the night she always fed us on mackerel because it happened to be the night that the fishmonger’s mobile van came round! We used to watch Flipper and then sit at the dining table and eat fish.
My son doesn’t believe that we used to watch snooker in black and white and that we used to watch the test card when we were waiting for the kids’ programmes to start. I also remember when it was close down at night and they played God Save the Queen. Now TV is on 24/7 on the main channels.
Hong Kong Phooey, number one super guy Hong Kong Phooey, quicker than the human eye He’s got style, a groovy style And a car that just won’t stop When the going gets rough, he’s super tough With a Hong Kong Phooey chop! JBK x
My goodness got me thinking now. Metal mickey, mork and mindy, the clangers way back when. Not to mention monkey magic I think straight after was hooray for harold Lloyd. Ahh the memories x
OOOH so many I’ve loved. Ludwig (though no one seems to remember him!!) who scared me to death. Metal Mickey, The Enchanted Garden, Children of Fire Mountain, Vicky the Viking, Champion the Wonder Horse, Ivor the Engine, Noahs Ark (All aboard the skylark!!!) Rhoobarb, Dangermous. Ok think I’d better stop there!!!
Ah, who mentioned Barnaby… I used to love Barnaby the bear. I also adored Bagpuss (and still do actually).
Does anyone remember Mary, Mungo & Midge?
Aside from all the kids programmes, hearing Sapphire and Steel mentioned got me thinking of the other telly shows we used to like watching when we were young like Hart to Hart and Charlies Angels, proper cheese!
And when they brought Dallas back, I was glued to it and admit that I did have a teary moment when they did a little tribute bit to Larry Hagman…
Sonia loved Mary mungo and Midge and also Chrystal Tips and Alistair [wow that hair no GHD’s then] Who remembers Captain Pugwash and all those terribly inappropriate innuendos that I certainly didn’t understand at the time, oh and Micheal Bentine’s Potty Time lol x
