No unless your an O A P but you can call your power company and ask for a Warm home scheme grant form its £135 back on your electric bill on your winter bill.

Hi I think you get the winter fuel allowance at 60 as my husband has been getting it for a few years and he is nearly 65

Hi Jan,

It depends on who your provider is as they do have slightly different criteria. A lot of them will need to see that you are on an income related benefit and various disabilty related additions, unless you have small children. Best thing is to look at this site and then contact your service provider.

Hubby is 60 and gets winter fuel allowance - he had his letter yesterday and its £200 . I’m on DLA (higher rate mobility and middle rate care) and I just get the £10 Christmas bonus.

It’s definitely worth switching provider to get the Warm Home grant. I used to be with British Gas who didn’t include me as I’m on tax credits and low rate care DLA. I switched to Eon when I moved house and tried with them and, yes, I’m included under their scheme.

I got my first winter fuel allowance this year at 62 years and 2months it was £200 it is delayed pro rata like state pension. I don’t understand how anyone aged just 60 can qualify this year.
