What is this??

I asked a couple of days ago what these visual disturbances could be?? They’re not there constantly but coming and going and my eye feels swollen?? I also have a pain into my cheek and the teeth. I have migraines but this doesn’t feel like usual?? And it’s been happening since Thursday. Should I go to gp or optician or just wait it out??

Could be sinus infection or a tooth infection. Does it feel worse when you grit your teeth? Does it feel worse when you hang your head down?

No it doesn’t feel worse with either of those. It’s like a searing pain from my ear into my cheek and jaw. It’s horrible :frowning: then I just keep getting floaters in the right eye too x

Could the pain be trigeminal neuralgia? If so I believe gabapentin may help dampen the pain and symptoms. I have recently had a sinus infection which agitated my trigeminal nerve in my left side of face. The doctor gave me antibiotics and it has hopefully gone. I hope you feel easier soon. Susie

I’d go to the optician ASAP then. I kept putting my appointment off last year and therefore missed it. This year I went and she was shocked at how much my optic nerve had changed and asked why I didn’t go last year when I was experiencing pain and visual rubbish.

Get that checked first I think.

sounds sport of like trigeminal neuralgia, not sure about the swollen eye tho… def. see an optician since it could be anything

My eye isn’t swollen it just feels like it is, it’s odd. Thank you for your suggestions, I’ve booked In with the GP at tea time and will ring the opticians after. I had an episode last summer where I had visual disturbances like a migraine aura but the head ache never came. They admitted me to observation and further tests but sent me home the next day saying was an atypical migraine due to epilepsy meds which I’m not on now so am baffled x

Does sound like trigeminal neuralgia. But still get checked out - GP and opticians -as they can spot changes in the optic nerve.

Also, don’t rule out the possibility of it being shingles.

Hope you get some answers soon and the right meds to deal with it.

Well I went to the gp, a locum one, who did by blood pressure and asked me what i wanted her to do. She basically said youre being investigated so there’s nothing i can do, its linked to all that and you’ve baffled the specialists. She was an absolute jobsworth.
