weird symptom

My right foot is constantly buzzing, like a low humming buzz, I feel like I’m standing in the engineering room of the starship enterprise. Is this a circulation thing or an MS thing? Anyone else get buzzy feet and or legs?

It’s not that weird, it’s a really common MS symptom.

It’s a nerve thing, not a circulatory thing. The technical term is paraesthesia - literally a wrong or abnormal sensation.

It can be itching, buzzing, pins and needles, “ants crawling”, electrical sensations, or just about anything (anything that’s not real, that is).

If you’ve never had it before, it might be worth speaking to your doctor or MS nurse, in case you’re starting a relapse.

I’ve had it worst when I’ve been having a relapse, but I can get it to a lesser extent at any time - typically after exertion.

Hi there

I often get buzzing in my legs and feet. Infact anything weird is usually caused by MS. It often happens after a bout of exercise.

Thanks for all the responses.

I have got paraesthesia before but it was like my limbs had fallen asleep and then nothing at all. This is more of a buzzing but I still have movement and control in the area. It reminds me a bit of lhermittes sign but it’s more constant and not as “shocking”. I was only diagnosed a few weeks ago so I’ve a lot to learn about what’s MS and not, Thanks again x

i had a similar experience recently although mine was constant pins n needles in my hands (normally only get pins n needles in the mornings in my arms and legs). spoke to my m.s nurse and she asked if i recently had a cold or in growing toe nail or any type of virus. i did have a cold and she explained that if you catch any virus this can bring on or exasperate any of your m.s symptoms. it lasted about 3 weeks and slowly disappeared. could you of picked up a virus? prob worth discussing with m.s nurse.

Thanks Ruth ,

That does make sense.

I am very run down at the moment and I got a dental abscess last week, still on the antibiotics and when I think about it, the last time I had this symptom I had recently got a stomach flu.

Thanks again x

I’ve been getting this too over the last few weeks, generally starts after short bursts of activity, even just walking, then it goes again quite quickly. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who gets things like that.

Hi,

Yep I get this too.Sometimes in my hands or feet. I have had MS for 24years.

By the way if the floor in engineering on the Enterprise were vibrating, I think Geordie would re-calibrate the Plazma Manifolds…we don’t have that luxury eh?

It’s embarrassing really, I keep making the noise the engineer room made when I notice it buzzing

Wouldn’t mind getting Bev to cure my MS with her little spray gun thing “pssssss”.
