weak legs fatuige or relapase

Hi all

My legs have gone really weak over the last few weeks, after being out shopping i couldnt stand for more than 5 mins without being tired and sitting down, and now its got worse am struggling just walking around the house, its just not like me as only a couple of months ago i walked round a theame park for hours.

Could this be a relapse or have i just over done things, am really not sure only got diagnosied earlier this year, and to make things worse i was due to see my ms nurse this week but the appointment has just been put back till the end of january not sure what to do and feeling scared.

any advise would be great

thanks

on the neegative side maybe it is a slight rrelaapse, ccan u got to the doc and maybe see aBOUT A COURSE OF STEROID TABLETS,THESE may PULL YOU THRROUGH,on the positive side, maybe u have been overdoing it,because its christmas time, and you dont relaise how much u are doing, just remember we all have limits and we need to learn to stay within them, its hard accepting that, but if you do that u can continue a good standard of life

I would agree with the previous comments - if this has been the case for more than 24 hours, go to your GP and discuss the possibility this is a relapse. he or she should check you do not have an infection (such as urine infection) as this can casue a pseudo relapse. You can have oral steroids prescribed by your GP - they may want to talk to your MS nurse first if they are inexperienced at treating relapses (as it is a large dose of steroids). Good luck

Worth seeing your GP as Anon has said, but please give your MS nurse a call. Given that it’s been getting worse over a period of three weeks, it does sound like it might be a relapse.

Keep trying the nurse if you don’t get through or have to leave a message - they tend to be very busy and are not always great at returning calls. So persevere!

In the meantime, delegate all the Christmas stuff to other people so you can try and rest.

With any luck it’ll be an infection or fatigue. If it’s a relapse, hang onto the fact that you have recovered from relapses before, so you will again.

Hi, although I don`t have RRMS, it does sound like you are having a relapse. Why not ring your nurse and tell her of your fears and extra problems? She might be able to bring your appointment forward again.

She may have thought you were doing ok and needed to shuffle appointments for others forward. Your need is just as urgent, eh?

I know the w word (wheelie) is taboo for some, but do you think it would be a good idea to have one… just for the times like now, eh?

Hi

am really scared it is a relapse as ive only started on dmds 6 weeks ago so will that mean they are not working

hi all

thanks for your replys, am just really scared only got diagnosed earlyier this year and i think its only just hiting me this is for life, i hate this ms, and am really really scared, should of been out partying tonight and shopping tommorrow but my legs wont even let me stand for few mins.

Does anyone know is it normal for a relapse to hit both legs?

Hi Just spotted this thread. Have only been diagnosed six months and so don’t know what a relapse is but am feeling rubbish at the moment - weak legs and buzzing hands. Is it best to speak to ms nurse or gp first? Fade

Fade, go to GP first, if they have good knowledge of MS then they will know what to do, but I would call your MS nurse too. It could be that your relapsing, you may have an infection on board somewhere, that hasn’t shown itself yet. I relapse, then 2-3 weeks later get a chest, water or viral infection, and therefore understand the cause of the relapse? xx

Susie, it’s really scary not knowing, I so get where your coming from. I have had this s… disease for 17yrs, and never asked anyone for anything, help, advice, nothing, until I joined this support group a few days ago, everyone here is great, I, after all this time still have trouble accepting it!! But after talking on here, it’s been a massive help, so please don’t be a fool like me, and think if you ignore it, it will go away, the help is always there for you hun, I’m learning this now. Spoke to the MS nurse today, it was really positive and am going to see them after I have a septic screen, which I think is to see if there are any infections lurking xx

Hi, This sounds exactly like me Hun…I started with what I thought was just my leg left getting weaker in November, however at the beginning of January I started really struggling, simply just walking my son from the car to pre school was really hard…I was struggling lifting my left leg even at rest. GP and MS Nurses confirmed it sounded like a relapse. I had steroids and this has improved it. It’s not what it was but from what they said because it started in November and I didn’t relate it to a relapse the damage may take longer to repair but it definitely is getting better (touch wood). I’m also having physio I try strengthen it so might be worth asking for this Hun. It’s so hard sometimes o handstand what a relapse is and I think sometimes we are stubborn and get deteremined that we can conquer it! Hope you get sorted. Xxx

I phoned MS nurse and am due to see physio on Thursday. Will see how that goes and if I need to do anything other than rest and wait. Fade
