Watching the birds

Hello Pat,

We get a lot of Magpies too, although I always worry that they will scare off the other birds. We have a lot of wood pigeons as well I love hearing them cooing to each other, sometimes we get pheasants they are so beautiful, but we don’t get so many of them.

Michelle they aren’t the boxes you buy with cameras in…I had my existing nest boxes and my husband fitted the cameras…he bought on either Amazon or eBay and for the pleasure they give us they were a very good buy…£20 each. If you buy the boxes with cameras fitted they are quite costly.

I have badgers that come too, I don’t get to see them so often at this time of year because they come after I go to bed but later in the year they come much earlier. Most nights they just snuffle about digging for worms but if they start to play or scratch so furiously they end up tipping over, they really are very funny. I’d hoped we might see young badgers this year but so far nothing. We did have two clutches of ducklings hatch today…one with five and one with nine…in terms of cuteness they are off the scale, they try to jump out of the water to catch little midges.

take care of yourself,

Nina

Likewise Don, I haven’t seen one for about that time either and I’m surrounded by farmland. Although living in herefordshire I suspect they are all in the cider orchards.
