I am not trying to be frivolous , but today I found out that if I don’t watch telly or listen to radio or look at internet “media” but listen to my music, I feel a whole lot less scared and miserable. This might seem like sticking my head in the sand but all I am saying is that I will ration how much news or “media” I will see / hear. I will check for essential info.
Once I reduced the constant flow of doom and gloom, I started to feel less negative, which is quite a big deal. I do understand that things are pretty bad but I choose not to stay immersed in the bad stuff. To maintain my positivity I will also modify my Googling and YouTube searches and reduce the amount of the “nastier” audio books I consume. Even if I can’t keep all this going it will generate a bit of variety. I might also seek some comedy podcasts as a bit of laughter also seems to help.
Sorry if you think I am being an idiot but I thought I would share what seems to work for me.
I stopped watching regular telly in the evenings about 2 years ago. Each night I watch a film and then youtube. I watch crafting tutorials and have made a great cushion today, using fleece and a pillow. It turned out really well. I cut the sides into strips and knotted them.
You’re so right, was watching C4 news last night and didn’t realise I was sucked in to an extended version for about hour and a half! Need more music and way less news to keep my anxiety levels from going crazy. Froo x

i definitely agree with you. i noticed that lately is getting harder and harder for me to control the anxiety with all the nowadays situation. its like eating soups - Soups Recipes - Delice Recipes with a fork. i thought about stop watching the news completely and turning off the notifications on my phone about all the sources indicating news. although not sure how good of an idea is it… you know… you always have to know what’s going on…
