Tingly, numbish tougne!

I have been getting a tingly sort of numb tougne on and off now since christmas. Its not constant and sometimes my lip goes funny too. I was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago for optic neuritus and had iv steroids. If this was from a new lesion would it come and go? I had a brain scan done 2 weeks ago, no results yet but does the brain stem get done too? Thanks

Hi babylove, I get this off and on as well. Tongue, lips, sometimes gums and the inside of my cheeks. Very unpleasant but luckily it doesn’t hang around for more than a few days at most (for me anyway) and sometimes only a few hours.

As far as I know, yes, MRI brain scan includes brain stem.

ATM its my fingers which are tingling and numb,

Yes the brain stem will be scanned, some neurologists ask for all the CNS to be done, last one I had done had to get my spinal cord done again as the angle was not right, which freaked me out asking for it to be done again, so I asked the nurse doing it why was it being done again.

Last one I had dont it was done with contrast, my neurologist told me any new lesions less than 6 weeks old would show up like a xmas tree lights which it did, unfortunately it does not show any new lesions in the spinal cord, so he could not tell how long they had been there.
