Thatcher is dead!

Today is the first time I’ve read this forum in a while so I am glad to see that free speech is still allowed here unlike other places on the internet.

Such a shame the lynch mob mentality has reared it’s ugly head on this forum. Even if you disliked Margaret Thatcher or her policies there is no need for this outpouring of hate which in my opinion demeans you, not her. To see the drunken mobs partying in the streets, burning effigies and trampling on her photograph is sickening, many of them were not even born when MT was in power, which is laughable and shows they are just moronic troublemakers who love to riot if given any excuse to do so. If asked about which of MT’s policies they were protesting about I would bet that most of them couldn’t give a coherent answer. She is vilified over the closure of mines and other industries but in truth Scargill and the militant trade unions engineered their own destruction with their constant strikes and holding the country to ransom.

Mrs Thatcher was a fearless defender of this country and had more b***s than all the male politicians put together, as was demonstrated when against fierce opposition from them she led this country into war with Argentina and liberated the Falkland Islands. What a stark contrast to Blair who became the puppet of America and sacrificed our forces in the illegal war with Iraq.

Lady Thatcher was a great politician and very importantly a great role model for women because she proved that anything is possible in the male dominated world of politics. She was, and still is, hugely respected worldwide which will be evident by the number of world leaders and foreign dignitaries who will attend her funeral next Wednesday.

Rest In Peace Margaret Thatcher.

couldnt agree more Pat

I see the anti anti MT lynch mob is out. Its a shame people have to attack us who are anti MT.

I agree with Pat’s previous comment. She actually did very little, if anything at all, that directly benefitted women when she was in power. As for being a role model for women, surely Barbara Castle would be a better example. She introduced the Equal Pay Act!

Surely the fact that Thatcher’s husband was a multimillionaire arms dealer went some way to helping her get to the top?

Yes, let’s celebrate the fact that, despite her divisive and savage policies, communities still managed to pull together, dispelling her myth that “there is no such thing as society”.

The point is that we all have different thoughts, feelings, experiences about things in life - this is part of what makes us human.

We will never all agree about everything and i think this is a good thing, debate is healthy. Everyone is entitleted to an opinion, when we attack people for having that opinion we then start to loose the point.

Some people hated her - and with good reason, some people loved her - with good reason, whilst otheres where ambivolent to her - with good reason.

It’s a bit like MS - we all have it/know someone that has it in varying degrees - but no matter how much it affects us we still have it - same as our opinions.

No two people are the same, arguing the point to prove you are right is essentially pointless - so shall we stop it now?

No, had she had a funeral paid for by her multimillionaire family, a dignified and quiet celebration of her life for those who wanted to do so there would have been none of this huge uproar.

The issue is, individuals and communities were irrevocably damaged by her policies and humiliated by her slavish joy at the destruction of the working class.

That same working class is now expected to pay for the pomp and ceremony of what is essentially a party political broadcast by the Conservative party on Wednesday at a cost of £10 million.

I will be wearing Red on Wednesday (see WearRedonWed campaigns on FB and Twitter) in protest at her ideologies and her taxpayer funded party political funeral, and in support of the miners, the nurses, the teachers, the steelworkers, the dockers, those who suffered under Pinochet, those who suffered though apartheid…

She is my new Heroine!

I think it may be back firing on them, as people’s memories are being reawakened of what it was really like. It wasn’t just about union bashing.

Thanks Glenda!

It will be interesting how it’s reported by the press afterwards will it be the awful disrespect shown to a ‘great lady’ by the benefit scrounging / working class plebs who are appalled at having to pay £10 million pounds or a more balanced view.

There are a series of FB and twitter campaigns aimed at peaceful protest - wear red on wed, random acts of kindness, ding dong the munchkin party etc in addition to the folks planning on lining the route and turning their backs peacefully as the cortege passes…

That money should have been spend on schools, hospitals…anything but the funeral of a tax avoiding multimillionaire (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/margaret-thatcher-tax-snatcher-mystery-1828441 ) whose legacy is privatisation of industry and social housing, dismantling of ‘society’ and devastation of communities…

Anti anti being the important part to the post.

The posts that are anti anti MT are the posts from people for MT.

Please read fully before posting, thankx

Too difficult for my MS brain to compute - why the anon?

Me too

Without it i would be singled out as not fitting in, sorry

Join the club !!!

No, it made no difference to her career. Dennis T was not an arms dealer of any sort, he was an accountant who sold the family firm (but remained a director), and went up through successive takeovers into a small oil company (Castrol) into a holding company who distributed stuff for the motor trade (Quinton Hazell). QH split most of the business up - Halfords (heard of them?) are still going, most of Partco are gone, the component factory is now in administration. Not exactly arms dealers.

Now her son (the boy Mark) is another story. Mummy looked out for him in lots of ways - including getting him a large commission on a deal with an Arab government to which he contributed exactly nothing.

There are plenty of things that she did do, that some have conveniently forgotten, that do need more publicity. None of them, of course, are directly concerned with MS as such. But just consider this: she wanted to privatise the utility companies in the interests of “consumer choice”. There are several firms who want to sell me electricity, and more who want to sell me gas, but I do need water - and my choice is exactly one company (foreign owned) or no water. I could go on at some length, but this is not really the right forum.

Hi Anon don’t worry about being singled out if your views are different to the rest, you don’t have to have sheep mentality and your views are just as valid as everybody else. It doesn’t bother me in the least lol

Thatcher once called Nelson Mandela a “terrorist”.

Thatcher said that the miners were " the enemy within".

Why such an expensive lavish occasion for such a hated person?

She also said that there is no such thing as society. The woman was odd and she run this country! Pat
No such thing as society, however, the society of which there is no such thing is picking up the tab for her lavish, over the top party political broadcast of a funeral…
