good day to all, to some she’s great, to the majority, a *****, we, who are in the majority are, by her legacy, penalised by having benefits cut, or told the we CAN work, the some, can go along and gush all the shte and psh in the world to parliament and be able to claim upto £3750 for the privilege (???), they couldn’t wait to throw her out, now they want paid to praise her before giving her the send off she doesn’t deserve, there are some who-everybody deserves the freedom to speak-thinks, on an open page, we mustn’t talk like this, does the country need to, in such austere times, pay for MP’s to turn up 3 working days earlier, should we pay for an EX prime minister to be buried, maybe we should have done it several years ago, when it was cheaper, brian
What before she was dead ???!!! That’s a bit harsh Brian !!!
I have to say that I am saddened by all the negative comments on here. When she took over as PM the country was in sheer debt and on tne verge of becoming a communist country like Russia. In my opinion it was the power crazy unions that closed the coal mines - Maggie stood up to them and got the blame. Similarily in N.Ireland she stood up to the terriorists, refusing to give in to the hunger strikers. As a result she was and still is blamed for them starving themselves to death.
Having worked in the textile industry for several years I dont blame governments for their demise. The fact is that in the far East they can produce goods so cheaply due to paying workers pittants, no health and safety restrictions, zero maternity leave/ pension etc. Also we had to pay a fortune to clean our water waste reduce effluent waste etc. In other countries they just dump it! In essence we are right to pay people fairly and clean up environmental waste but as a result our goods are far more expensive to produce and we are priced out of the market.
Regards to Maggie I think that it is wrong to pay for such an expensive funeral given the dire state of the ecconomy - but that is not her fault.
i dont agree at all with the money thats being spent on her funeral. let her estate and family pay for it like we have to.
its all wrong
I agree with mick, all that money on a funeral, yet genuine people who need help from the state are being treated dreadfully because we are told the country cant afford to pay their benefits.
The Iron Lady may she rust in hell. No tears from me.
This cartoon by the consistently excellent Steve Bell is pleasingly disrespectful.
I agree with you guys even though peoples passing isn’t nice, she did her damage here for sure. As young child I recall going hungry as my dad was laid off.
The thing I am most upset about is the fact the PIP didn’t get the coverage and the headlines it should have and her death allowed the gov to slip the start date of the PIP right on through. She couldn’t have waited a week in the ritz then!!!. Now if she would have been in an old people home like everyone else has to, she wouldn’t have gotten her final date to clash with the PIP??? Oh well better go, got her funeral to cost for
There’s a Facebook campaign to make her leader of the Labour party !!
Typical Daily heil headline today though…yawn…Fag-ash Glenda… potty to the power of 10 and sexist, too…they showed a huge amount of respect when Michael Foot died…not…
OK so whether you loved her or hated her or was indifferent to her…
in a time when we are having our benefits cut or removed altogether, when the NHS is being cut & privatised, when very poor people are having to pay for having one extra room and are having to pay council tax… can it really be justified to spend £10 million on her funeral?
That is the most recent costing… and will probably cost more!
Your comments?
(and just to reply to comments that this forum is for discussing MS… I have been using this forum for over 5 years and we have always discussed a whole range of subjects… we have never stuck to ‘just MS’)
Best bit of news I have ever had. There will be quite a few coal miners waiting for her . She brought this country to its knees, We’re now paying thousands of pounds over the odds to import coal from Russia and China. I know because my husband works in the ports and sees the ships coming in twice a week. Trust a Tory to take away the news on DLA benefit cuts.
My grandad will be on the otherside waiting for her he used to be a coal mine lol julie xx

I thought this forum was about daily life with ms and the challenges it can bring. Clearly you all have strong feelings about this but is this really the place for them to be aired?
I can understand why! alot of people on here struggle with their disability and struggle with money worries all that partys have ever done is pick on the weak and poor and help the better off.
And when did fish faced soft Mark, the illegal arms dealer to contacts set up by mummsy, failed coup attemptor subsequently banned from ever entering South Africa, the one lost in the Sahara on the Paris to Dakar rally (and subsequently sent the bill for the post rescue celebration dinner to the British embassy (i.e. us) to pick up (although mummsy did step in an pay up after a storm of protest) ever become SIR Mark Thatcher…and what did he do to get the title ???
*Actually…just googled…inherited from daddy on daddy’s death…ahhhhhh
I think that one of the reasons they are spending so much money is the fact that the Queen and Prince Philip are attending,if they weren’t going I don’t think it would quite meet the 10 million mark. I don’t have a lot of bad or good things to say about her, she did some good but she also made some collossal blunders. I do not agree with all tax payers money being spent on her funeral as her estate is clearly worth a fortune and I think it would be appreciated if Mark and Carol Thatcher would come out and say that they were at least going to chip in half. Funnily enough I don’t think Margaret Thatcher would have approved of the costs of her funeral.
Just heard Rod Stewart’s been booked to play the funeral
Personally I think ‘Wake Up Maggie’ is a bit tastelss…
Sorry have been offline for over a week and missed all this. It is always sad when a person passes away for their family and friends. Also know she had many fans especially among the Daily Mail and Telegraph fraternity. I recently watched the film with Meryl Streep and found it surprisingly moving.
Saying all of this I loathe what that woman did to this country and as a shop keeper’s daughter myself I have no personal feelings of angst towards her, just sadness for what this country has become and as T Blair lead us into 2 wars I’m not keen on his legacy either.
I have just heard on the news that the Palace are concerned that she is to have a semi-state funeral, perhaps they have the mood of many people better than establishment politicians.
No real grieving here then.

Hi Wendy, yes I think the palace have got a better take on it.
Also apparently the Queen couldn’t stand Thatcher!
