this morning I was moisturising my feet, as you do and as I was going over a certain spot in my foot, I could feel an electrical sensation going down my foot and into my toe. Every time I touch a certain spot, I feel it. Is this normal or MS related ??
It’s fairly normal. I can sometimes not feel my fingers touch certain parts of my foot and other times it just feels weird and even as if I’m touching it with sandpaper that is both freezing and burning at the same time.
Try to avoid the area as best you can for a while. Could be you stood a little funny, stepped on a stone or smething and now you’ve aggrevated you foot the injured foots signals are just being misinterpreted wrong.
As I have PPMS, I dont get relapses, so cant say what one would involve. But if theres nothing else going on, maybe it isnt a relapse. Can you ring an MS nurse if youre worried?
Thank you. I will ring if it’s still there tomorrow. Haha the only way to check is to touch that spot on my foot though… I don’t want to even check lol…
it is like when household bits go haywire. the problem is either mechanical or electrical.
My husband has a solid background in mechanics, my eldest son is an electrician and they both recognise my symptoms as either mechanical or electrical.
If it is really getting to you, let your ms nurse know, at the very least let your GP know so that it gets on your records.
Thanks Carole. I’m now feeling strange sensations in both legs and feet. I’m not sure what that’s about. It’s not painful and I can live with it. But I would describe it like buzzing, electrical currents in feet and in different parts of my legs at different times. Also my the back of my thigh twitches deep inside. My right thigh is also just a bit sore / tight. It’s definitely not a problem if it stays like this. Just worried it might be a relapse and it will get worse. Is there usually a pattern if you lose mobility ? Does it start with sensory and then suddenly you can’t move ? It’s probably always different isn’t it. I’m sure I’ll be fine!
I get electric shocks down my body and limbs too. One of the first symptoms.
The foot shock thing is probably an MS symptom. If I touch the bottom of my left foot that has foot drop then I get the Babinski reflex , where my big toe goes up and my toes spread out. Not normal in adults unless a neurological problem. It’s something that Drs check on babies up to age 2. Over the age of 2 toes curl inwards.
