Weird sensation

Hi there. I haven’t posted in a long while but I just wondered if you can help/advise. I’ve had RRMS for coming up to 4 years. Recently my body has been having a really weird sensation. The best way to describe it is, our bed has a massage feature which is more like a vibrating feel, but when it goes off your body still has the feeling of vibration but inside if that makes sense. That is what my body feels like constantly, just really weird. I get it a lot in my legs but though it was Restless Leg, but now its everywhere and its driving me mad. The last couple of months have been quite stressful as sadly I lost my dad (fairly unexpectedly) so I know it can bring on symptoms/relapse but does this sound like MS and do you know/think there is anything I can do for it??

HI Paula,

Sorry to hear about your Dad, yes I think stress can bring on symptoms.

Your new symptom sounds like a common MS symptom. Paresthesia.

One of my first symptoms was tingling up my legs to my waist in waves if I’d been walking. Noticed the feeling once I stood still. I now have these tingling feelings over my whole body all the time. Fine during the day when I’m moving around but annoying when I’m in bed trying to get to sleep.

Neurologist prescribed 10mg amitriptyline at night which helps me go to sleep.

People describe the feeling like ants crawling on the skin, sunburn, prickling or itching. Most common on legs, arms, hands and feet.

Speak to your MS nurse if you have one.
