Heather has just gone to Tesco and is going on to look at a bike for our middle grandson. I am still to tired to be bothered to go out so am sitting here listening to more Margo Price songs. A simple thing like going to get my hair cut is a major task now getting out of bed and dressed wears me out and I dont even do it Heather washes and dresses me . I hope I dont come across as moaning coz I dont mean to but as I said How the mighty have fallen I used to think I was invincible but MS proved me wrong on that score. Hope everyone is enjoying this start to October I keep saying it must come to an end but it carries on being nice. well I am sitting here rocking out to Margo Price album Midwest Farmer’s Daughter
When I was on holiday there over 20 years ago I had a few cut throat shaves. I had to refuse the massage because of sunburn. I also had a haircut. It was all rather civilised. The hot towels are a bit better than the things you get in a curry house.
That’s a good song. I’m not a huge fan of that style but it’s really quite pertinent.
Hi Invincible Don. I think you’re invincible & bet I’m not the only one!
Where I live in north London is very much a Turkish area. I had a friend from USA come on holiday and he had the shave and said it was the best shave he’d ever had. I sat next door in a cafe for what seemed an eternity. He ended up having a head massage too (sounded a bit iffy to me but he swore it was really a head massage).
The other great thing about the Turkish is their food! We have huge choice of Turkish cafes and restaurants here and all the food is great. Really healthy, always served with a big fresh salad, all the meat or fish is charcoal cooked and always served with little dishes of yoghurt & cucumber or aubergine dip or whatever…oh and masses of homemade flat bread warm from the oven.
All of that for between £5 & about £8. Honestly you couldn’t cook it at home for that price.
Tweeted your blog…good as always!
You could sing ‘I saw twelve ships go sailing by’…
Great blog as usual, thanks. Some days when things are not so good, I have pj’s on all day, and if we were ‘down’ with the kids, as they call it, they would say it’s called a duvet day!
I like the sound of this Turkish shave, nobody would want me to do it with my tremor…oh perish the thought.
Don, you’ve got me thinking about Turkish food. Funny enough, I’ve just made humus and a feta and yoghurt dip with mint. But I could murder a kofta. I used to live just up the road to Pat in Palmers Green in North London. It was a vibrant Turkish/Greek Cypriot community. I even taught at a big comprehensive school there. It’s where I got my love of olives and feta cheese.
Hello Don good blog. I often stay in my nightgown all day i usually feel too tired to dress after my shower. That nostril wax sounds painful. I don’t think id bother with one of those Don.
I never got any turkish food but we are having stew tonight with dumplings so I will call the dumplings Manti’s even though they are Aunt Bessies I can pretend.
