well done! have u tried thinking urself thinner?! i once lost a stone this way! have recently lost over 4 stone but that was by unwanted meansillness
say ur weight is a stone lighter from now. believe/convince urself u r already that weight and u will be! i am aware it sounds daft! but its cos u have changed ur focus…what have u got to lose? (every pun intended!)
Thankyou folks - girl at work, said that I was wasting my time/money but she is overweight and maybe feels pressurised by someone trying to lose weight…I think you need the goal of a weekly weigh in to aim for…
If you, persevere Stephen the weight will come off, get out a food diary and write everything down this week, it does help, I will actually join you as though at target I’ve put on also this week 1.5 however I know I’ve been well off the plan so going to write everything down. And as for the woman at work lets show her and get you to target,
l am going to have another determined effort to lose some more weight. Before l had my hip-hop - l did lose 1st. 2lbs - and that was with the 5-2 fasting diet. Now l am due to have a knee-replacement - and know if l lose some more weight it will make it easier for me to get about. So - l shall also ‘join’ you. l only weigh myself once a week - as your weight can go up and down so quickly in a day-and there is nothing more demoralising then finding after really trying that you have gone up a couple of pounds.
Just making a large pot of minestrone soup - lots of veg and lentils - and l shall have a piece of salmon and spinach to-night.
Slimming World is a good dieting club - and l am sure you will soon feel the benefits.
Maintained again last night - no loss or no gain - same as last week so dissapointed again..have to try and get to the pool or something to try and move a few pounds - some folk told me to drink green tea to speed up my metabolism…
See if you can’t join Strictly Come Dancing - the ‘celebs’ soon drop weight. Deborah Meadon looked fantastic - before she was voted off. Hope she keeps it up. Mark - the very heavy actor - l think they said he had lost 3 stone!! - he has a lot to lose - and is still grossly overweight. Dave Myers looks the same - but his dancing is pretty pathetic - so perhaps he is not putting his all into it.
But seriously, you have maintained - not put pounds on. So you will be feeling a bit disappointed. lt might be a good idea to get someone to ‘check’ that you are keeping to the correct amounts. Not that you want to have to weigh everything before you eat it - you will soon get put off dieting. Try a smaller plate - a good visual trick - that makes your meal look more. Keep off fruit juice - as this raises the blood sugar level and puts the body into ‘fat storing’ mode. [Saw this on Dr Michael Mosely tv programme]
l have a friend who at 75 - and always been overweight - is now trimmer then she has ever been. She has cut out nearly all carbs - eats lots of protein/veg/salad - so she can have bacon and eggs mushrooms for breakfast. And for exercise she puts all her favourite pop music on and ‘bops’ ‘twists’ away. She says she can even do this whilst doing her housework. Apart from making her fitter - it has lifted her ‘mood’ and she feels much happier. She lives in a first floor flat. Lets hope her neighbours are hard of hearing. l can just see the plaster falling off the ceiling of the flat below!!
Did your slimming world rep have any tips as to how you can get the weight to start falling off?
Thanks Space Jacket, I was worried that taking my cipralex (10mg) for my mood was slowing my metabolism down a bit but will have to keep at it. My slimming world rep has recommended keeping a food diary, which I will try to do and will try to get down to the pool or something, as an office job is very sedetary…my slimming world rep gives me a laugh because she says, she’s down to a size 14 but it is more like a 14-16, reminds me of Majorie Doors on Fat Fighters in Little Britain, I can just see her eating a Mars bar after we all leave…she is a bit of an air head as well…don’t think that I am being too sore on her but personally i don’t rate her, as she always wants the class to give ideas…sounds rubbish of me but that’s the way I see it…
lf you work out what you can and should eat in a day - anyway you could split it into 4/5 little meals - then you might not feel hungry.
The nurse ,who was giving the talk on knee-replacement surgery that l attended was ‘huge’ - there she was advising us on diet and exercise!! Majority of the nurses seem to be over weight - it can’t be ‘hospital food’ surely. l counted 11 nurses having a fag in the bus shelter outside of the orthopaedic dept. The bus shelter is not for buses - it is for these people to stand under cover and smoke.
l try to follow the Barry Groves eating regime. lt is the hunter/gatherer type - trying to cut out all cereals - so no bread etc - and low carbs but high fat/protein. His book Natural Health and Weight loss is very interesting [from amazon] He advocates eating lots of protein and dark green veg/kale - years before Terry Wahls came out with her diet for pwms. This diet is beneficial to everyone but especially anyone with auto-immune diseases.
LOL - good point about the Nurses or health professionals - sometimes it is hard to take people seriously about health and exercise when they don’t seem to be making an effort themselves…but I will keep knuckling down and fighting my own battle with weight plus the exercise (if i can) because, I find that at this time of the year the body can slow down and want to hibernate, with MS, it seems to be standard for me…
Stick with it an remember to have loads of speed foods such as veg fruit etc 2 thirds of meal should have your speed foods or if meal can’t contain them have plate of fruit after or some chopped veggies like carrots etc your consultant can check your food diary and help you and they can weigh you sitting down, I have to sometimes as does another member. Fat free yoghurts are great for the fridge or freezer as icecream for free snack and the online support is great. Good luck x
well done Stephen at least it’s off, are you keeping a food diary! you should of received four in your starter pack! worth filling in and letting the air head oops sorry consultant check them! or post on here and we will! plenty here do slimming world.
well done Stephen at least it’s in the right direction, Milk, and cereal you should really weigh as it’s so easy to think you’ve got the right amount especially milk surprising how many people are shocked that there taking too much. It is a good idea to fill in food diary like I mentioned in an earlier post, you may think your doing it all ok but there could be places where your going. Wrong. Good luck for the coming week.
