Scared and still unsure

Approx 6 years ago I had a car crash where a car went into the back of me whilst my right arm was straight out (locked at the elbow) on the steering wheel. Following the accident I had a bad shoulder, shooting pains in my elbow and pins and needles in my little finger and the one next to it.

These symptoms over the next few years intermittently came and went. I’ve seen 3 different physio therapist during this time. Over the last 12/18 months I have lost grip in my hand, to the point I’m struggling to get the bottle lid off some water. The pins and needles are still there but now in my index finger along with cramping.

I have been to the gp who has advised nerve damage or MS and put a referral though.

In addition to the above in the last few days I have now started with pins and needles in my leg and a heavy feeling.

I am am peri menopausal and have been putting my confusion and dizziness down to this but now unsure.

That said I’m keen for a diagnosis as I have 2 children and the worry is causing me great anxiety. I have a consultant appointment this week.

If I’m honest I’m terrified it’s ms or worse mnd.

I am sorry that you are having a worrying time. Well done, going to the doctor and getting the ball rolling on finding what the matter is. Waiting isn’t fun, but at least you’re heading in the right direction.

Hi Blondie and sorry to hear of your worries. It sounds as if you have a pretty good GP. My wife broke her shoulder a couple of months ago and has been warned that some of the effects, which sound a little similar to your symptoms, might remain for life ( for the time being she is continuing with the physio). MS isn’t much fun but with the treatments now available it’s not the sentence that it used to be ! ( diagnosed 17 years ago and still active and enjoying life)
