Road tax exemption

Hi Guys,

I’ve just been awarded the higher rate of the mobility component of PIP (It only took 7 months - which is good going considering some peoples waits), and one of the benefits that this affords is the exempt road fund license.

The leaflet says you need to go to the post office with a completed V62 (along with all the other documents required), but this seems a bit daft, as I haven’t lost the original V5! Do I just fill out the basics and leave the rest blank?

This for me couldn’t have come at a better time as my road tax runs out at the end of next month, but my car isn’t very green as it now costs £143 every 6 months. However as it’s an auto and doesn’t complain about my wheelchair and I’m loathed to part with it as it’s only 6 years old.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Ignore me! I was having a moment when I was reading the leaflet - What it didn’t make 100% clear was that you need to present either the V5C or if you dont have that, the V5C/2 (new keeper form) and a V62.

Simple when you read it for the 10th time

I’m glad you’ve had this discussion lol and got yourself sorted. I confuse myself all the time, so know how you feel

Once you have taxed your car as ‘disabled’. Next year - you can do it on the phone - when the reminder arrives - which is so easy. No more trips to the PO.

Or online as we do, well done on getting PIP nice to hear of a positive result.
