results!

Good afternoon each!

Well I began my healthy eating plan (the d word is banned) on 9th of this month, just after my cruise.

And already I am seeing results.

I`ve gone from a 22/24 to 18/20 and I found some flat fat this morning.

Lying in bed, I ran my hand over my lower abdomen and yeh! there it was …some flat fat areas!

Made me smile!!!

Just to add, my incentives are;

  1. booking a holiday to Jersey next year and need to get into a plane seat comfortably and I will need to be lifted

  2. thinking about my carers having to roll me

3.I`m sure my spc will be happier with less flab pressing on it!

Well done Poll.

I know how hard it is to cut down on food. But it’ll be worth it. One day I will join you on the healthy, weight loss, d***, type thing. If only I can stop eating nice food and drinking nice wine!!

Well done Poll, I also don’t do the ‘D’ word.

However, I’ve been giving ths mimic-fasting a crack. As well as a couple of unusual MS improvements, I’ve managed to shift a stone over about 8-10 weeks, and more importantly, it’s stayed off! It’s also not difficult and doesn’t confuse things in terms of shopping etc.

I stopped as I embarked on a clinical trial but I will be going back to it as soon as the trial ends.

Well done Poll and Sonia

I too have seen results.

I changed my diet (dropped all carbs) 18 months ago as my glucose level was rising badly as my weight went on. Since dropping the carbs I have dropped 3 stone 10llbs and I feel so much better for it and I don’t miss potatoes, bread, crisps etc either

I did this on the advice of my GP and, like you say Poll, my SPC is much happier not being trapped by lots of tummy.

Those of you who have changed your eating habits, do you have partners and/or family to take into account. I need to change my eating habits (overweight and high cholesterol), but I find it difficult with a picky hubby to cater for. Left to myself I could pretty much go vegetarian, but that’s not an option when he won’t eat any vegetables except peas, carrots and sweetcorn. I wouldn’t miss bread or potatoes, he would. Then there’s the fact that I rely on him to do the cooking. I don’t like the idea of us eating different meals, but I may have to accept that option if I want to lose weight.

My other problem is that I’ve always relied on exercise to help me keep my weight in check. Since my left foot started acting up, that’s become harder. I need an inexpensive way of getting aerobic exercise, or something like it, to help me burn the calories. Any suggestions?

Well done Poll, it is great when you find a flat bit where it used to be lumpy !

Can you share the secret of this success pls as I need to drop a few sizes.

Trouble is for me I would miss tatties and bread…they are my favourite foods. :frowning:

I noticed the weight coming off very fast at first by just dropping the carbs. It has slowed up a bit but I’m still losing around 2lbs per week. I love meat and vegetables so this is what I eat. If I do have a sandwich then I notice that my tum feels really uncomfortably full so I know that the low/no carb way of eating suits my insides.

If you try the low car “D” then I promise you Ell you will drop those dress sizes quickly. In time for Christmas I reckon.

Hubby has lost weight too, about a stone and a half in 6 months.

Once we both saw the weight coming off then it encouraged us to keep going.

Good luck sweets.

On the mimic-fast days (usually Mon-Weds, so weekends are all normal days) we’ll have soup in the evening.usually Covent garden soups so fresh, varied and healthy. I’ll be quite strict on 2 slices of gluten free bread with mine, whereas hubby can either have something else after the soup or he’ll have something else with bread (cold meat, cheese etc.).

For me, loads of water and cut out hot drinks as milk/sugar means lots more to count! Keeping it simple helps, I even managed to cope with tecfidera whilst was doing it

Thanks everyone for your encouragement!

My hubby and I have practically eaten different meals for most of our married life. He never varies from his choice of foods. Hates anything with the slightest hint of being ‘foreign muck’… such as pasta or stir fry.

He eats pies every day and chips or deep fried roast spuds. He never eats fruit and rarely salads. Occasionally he’ll have veg.

Here’s a quick run down of a typical day on my healthy eating…

Breakfast

Bran flakes, with banana and prunes

Lunch

Ham salad. Muller light yogurt

Tea.

Pork chop jacket potato mixed veg. Orange.

Options not chocolate mid afternoon.

I also eat tuna, salmon, turkey, chicken, bacon, eggs, mushrooms…

That’s about it!

I am unable to get weighed, but I think it’s easy to get obsessed with pounds and ounces. You can tell by your clothes as they slacken, that the weight is coming off.

Good luck to everyone who is trying to shift the weight!

Forgot to say that hubby does all the cooking in our house, as I am unable to do so safely. So I am lucky that he’s a better cook than me anyway!

My menu is pinned up in the kitchen and he’s good at following it for me.

I say hats off to you all. Well done!! I lost nearly 2 stone 18 months ago. It was a proper way of eating, not dieting. However it has all come back on. IT is hard and I admire anyone who is successful. Anne

Well done all of you.

Don’t mean to offend anyone, but hubby always says we put on excess weight because, “this hole (pointing to bum) is a lot smaller than this one!” (pointing to mouth).

Thinking about Anne48 telling us how she lost weight and re-gained it.

I wonder if my fat story will interest anyone…if not that`s fine, fat stories can be very boring!

My family was a well fed one and hence we all carried a bit more weight than we perhaps should`ve. But feeding our kids is so often a way of giving them love.

From being 18 years old, I tried a variety of ways to lose the flab. Does anyone remember or did you try;

ayds…or was it spelt aids? They were cubes of cellulose filler which looked and tasted like fudge!

Stephanie Bowman undergarments?..these were mum`s…a pair of plastic/rubber knickers that would make you sweat…and smell too!

Limmets?..a thick wafer biscuit, with centres filled with disgusting concotions like cheese and onion…vile!

I joined J & M…the former name of Slimming World…followed their very early restrictive diet…became very constipated…but lost 3.5 stones. went from 12st 7lbs - 9st in a year.

got back into fat food again and climbed to 15st .7lbs

I joined WW and lost 88lbs…two fat ladies!..ended up becoming a leader for them!

I opened a new class and had 60 women at the first meeting!

I then ran more classes and loved it soooo much…new size 10 outfits every week…

I was 40…had my boobs lifted, passed my driving test and got a new car…life was wonderful.

move on 5 years…I kept falling…why? Gaining weight again?

Couldnt walk properly…why?

Oh yeh, it was my HSP setting in and spoiling my life…

24 years on, here I am…trying to shift the flab yet again!!!

Trouble with weight it’s a lot harder to lose than gain but well done to anybody that can keep it off , I am just weak and it’s too easy to give in too a sandwich or takeaway and my husband gives in to me to easily . Katy

Well done. I am doing slim roast coffee and I have lost a stone so far xxx

Well done Poll, you’re an inspiration to people

My top tip is use a smaller plate so food looks more.

Little steps lead you on a journey. Keep it up.

Slim roast coffee???I

Are you talking coffee grinds enemas?!

I just googled it. It appears to be a type of coffee that has appetite suppressants in it!!! I don’t think it involves enemas.

How about going out for a lovely lunch, to a restaurant you’ve been to before, where they had a gorgeous Black Forest sundae on the menu (cherry and chocolate ice cream, cherries, chocolate brownie bits, marshmallows, cream!!) and you leave room for it. And it’s no longer on the menu!!! That’s a good way to eat less calories. Dam them. No pudding for me. Went home hungry.
