Hello everyone hope weather is lovely where you all are dosent the sun make things seem a bit more cheerful. I have a tribunal hearing for my PIP payment this week and wonderd if other people had been through it .Very nervouse and scared about it havent slept well going over things in my head , i wasent awarded any points on the mobilty section so not being able to walk unaided is good mobiltiy ? what part of the independance paymant dose that cover i have none reley on husband and friends to take me out anywhere and then can only walk a short way before i need to rest and sit down it just feels like i cant support myself and my lower half crumples in pain. sorry didnt mean to moan on any advice gratefully received. Thank you katy

Hi Katy, sorry I have not been through PIP yet…dreading it when it happens but I do know you need to tell how your WORST day is.

Tell how you can only go a few steps before the pain/weakness happens.

Good Luck

Ell

I haven’t been to a PIP Tribunal, but I did go to one for DLA earlier in the year Katy and I can only presume that they are quite similar? I do know how you feel, as I was tying myself in knots, going through possible questions/answers in my head for weeks, so (((hugs))) for you hun.

It really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The panel were quite polite and respectful, and most of the questions were asked by the disabled member.

It may be worth doing a bit of reading on how the points are assigned for each level of award and thinking how/if they apply to you.

I did make some notes when I got home about what kind of questions I was asked and I’m more than happy to send them to you if you think they will help?

Best of luck hun, and please let us know how it goes.

Mags  xx

Hi, have you done the self test questionnaire? I cant believe the havent given you any points for mobliity. Sounds wrong. Did you fill the form in yourself?

I do hope with all my hope, the tribunal awards you the right amount.

Hi Points for the mobility component are awarded for mobilising with or without walking aid. Walking aid can be stick(s), frame or wheelchair. Did you explain the distance you can walk repetitavily without severe discomfort? Pip is different from DLA as it looks at mobilising not walking. I haven’t gone through the assessment yet. All the best Neil

Thanks everyone for your help i am sure it wont be as bad as i am expecting things never are , will make sure everthing is the worst possiable it can be but my trouble is i always look on saying things are bad as a failiuar on my part and should be stronger and able to struggle on like i always could. Wish me luck for thursday KATY

I have my PIP assesment on Thursday and luckily or not im having the worst time, so ill be wheeled in, hopefully not smack them with my posessed right arm and will be taking hubby as my ‘end of sentence’ person as I only seem to be able to remember the 1st few words of what I need to say. Oh and a cattle prod to keep me awake. Good luck love, roll on Friday xx

HI barnbycrumble what a great name good luck to you aswell on thursday it sounds like you are not having a good time at the moment at least i will be able to walk in and not smack anybody just try and stop my husband from smacking somebody will be enough for me to cope with . Hope all goes well and we get the outcome we deserve we can compare notes afterwards. Take care Katy

Good luck to you to love, I wish I could give them a one month dose of this and then see if they want to question wether im able or not. Possesed arm just poked daugher in the face as I went to hug her.

I’m still waiting for my assessment after 5 months. Hope all goes well for you x

I down loaded a questionnaire from the internet relating to PIP and went through all 20 pages answering each question which carries a number of points. I scored high enough to get “enhanced” What a silly word for getting the highest points for being disabled. Typical.
