Personal Independance Payments - Motability magazine

Hello there,

There is an article in this months Motability magazine (Lifestyle page 10) about the new DLA (PIP).

There is a question about what may happen to your advance payment if PIP is turned down.

This suggests to me that if PIP is refused you can appeal but there will be no ‘Appeal rate’ whilst going through this process & that you will simply get nothing and must return the car.

This will lead to many problems especially to those who have a Motabilty car as they may be without transport. I hope that the appeal process will be a lot quicker than ESA. I wonder how many will Appeal of those turned down.

That is a ridiculous state of affairs. I read about it a few weeks ago. What happens to people who need their car to get to work? I don’t see employers keeping jobs open till the appeal is heard. The only answer seems to be to go off sick with stress!!

Access to work might be able to help with taxis to work if you were to loose your mobility car. It’s there to help people with disabilities continue in work so it would be appropriate.
