On shutting my eyes I get pain around my eye not in the actual eye itself, had this for a couple of days now , should I ring and mention it to inflammatory team ? Feel a bit stupid, if I mention every pain to them I’d be on the phone every week , it’s just I’ve read eye pain being a sign of relapse but again mine isn’t in actual eye
Any help appreciated
When I’ve had optic neuritis, the thing that has hurt is moving the eyeball about to look right of left while keeping head still. But that’s just my personal experience of it.
Hi Alison
That’s the thing it feels more like I’ve had a at the side of my eye I’ll leave it for a min just keep my eye on it (pun intended)
Thanks
When it’s eyes there’s always the optometrist option. They are skilled professionals in their own area and they have the kit to take a look (sorry!) at what’s going on in there. They’re also much easier to get an appointment with than a hospital specialist, but they have their own routes for referring you fast to the hospital ophthalmologists, who typically run emergency clinics.
Honestly, with Christmas coming up. I don’t think you want to sit on this for too long without getting seen by somebody
Good shout I’ll ring specsavers in a bit
Thanks
p.s. I do think you should flag it to your MS team urgently too. No harm in approaching these things from more than one direction. If they think you have ON or might do, they’ll want to know about that. And not everything is MS, of course, so Specsavers covers other options too. You don’t want to mess about with eyes.
Hi Alison
I have a appointment in specsavers tomorrow morning
I’ll see what they say and go from there
Thanks
