Afternoon buds!
The OT and rep from the hoist company came yesterday.
I explained the problem with the hoist tape fraying. My present hoist is just a month old and already has started showing signs of fraying.
the one before that was 10 months old when it frayed so badly, it looked like a rat had been at it!
So yesterday the rep, said my bed had been moved and hence the hoist has to lift on a slant. What a load of tosh! I cant move my bed. There`s hardly spare space to swing a cat in the bedroom…apologies to moggy lovers!
I left the OT and rep to thrash it out between them. OT said even if a slight slant is involved, an expensive product like the hoist (3k it cost) should been better designed in the way the tape lifts the person. Bear in mind this hoist is supposed` to be able to lift up to 30stones! Ahem, excuse me madam! i am still along way off that target!!! So if the user weighed that much, I doubt the tape would last long anyway!
The rep rang his office and asked for the measurements from the original drawings could be supplied. he did this in aa attempt to prove his bed moved
theory. The figures were sent thru and ahem, excuse me (again), they proved the bed had NOT been moved!
I have asked for a different type of hoist now…one that is wired up and fixed to one room (lounge), whereas the present hoist has to be lifted off its track and taken into the bedroom. Having a hoist in situ in each room, will be better for hubby
s arthritic hands. Plus my 2 lady carers are only 5ft and have great difficulty carrying the hoist from room to room and hitching it to the track.
So where are we now? OT has rung to ask me my weight…ahem, excuse me madam (for a 3rd time, eh), as the fixed hoist have different sizes to correspond with user weights.
I may be passing round the begging cap soon, as the council will doubtless agree to another DFG.
That`s the news so far on the subject.
