Hi guys, with symptoms and I know everyone is different but mine started off with numbness in my feet now if I touch my feet I can feel me doing so but these past few days I’ve noticed that my left foot in particular has felt a lot more numb if that makes sense and it feels like my knee and leg feels funny as if it’s traveling up. I’m new to the new diagnosis and such so was wondering if this is normal and if so does it come and go? The numb feeling in the knee I mean the feet I’m pretty much used to but with it feeling a lot more numb and now my knee it’s worrying me a bit. I’m still waiting to see my MS nurse to meet the team and get started on treatment - any help would be appreciated
Sadly, it appears to be pretty normal for MS. Hopefully, your nurse will be able to help.

Hi there @annelouise.hall, sorry you’re going through this - really not fun when you don’t know how symptoms can develop and can be super scary to feel things ‘spreading’ etc.
Just from my own experience (and know MS is super different for everyone so your symptoms could be radically different!), my numbness also started in my feet before spreading up above the knee.
Eventually for me (and again, could be massively different for you), it moved a bit up my inner arms/just below my clavicle (which is how my neurologist would politely rephrased my take of ‘just above boob height’!!) and stayed like this for about 3-ish months before it gradually disappeared.
Essentially, for me it was the yellow/blue/red bits in this dematome chart:
6 months-ish on and it’s largely gone away. Even at the time when a lot of my body was numb, it felt strange but in my case didn’t affect my coordination etc.
My numbness didn’t mean I couldn’t feel pain/temperature etc and balance was all fine - it just made everything feel a bit weird, or like I was wearing full body spanx. So not the dream, but could still get on with things!
Sure once you have a chat with the MS nurses, they’ll be able to give you some good advice and answer any questions etc. Sorry you’re having to wait on an appointment - hope things are feeling a bit better for you soon. Deep breaths and one day at a time ![]()
Thank you! Its gave me some peace of mind. I hope I don’t have to wait to much longer to see the MS nurse so then I can get started on treatment. The numbness in my feet has never went away but hoping the new extra numbness and the traveling eases off soon! It feels strange walking especially when you can’t feel your leg ![]()
What you are describing will sound familiar to many of us - me included. The sooner you talk to the MS nurse and get a treatment plan in place the better, I think.
I am sorry that you’ve joined the MS club.
Thank you! I know it’s a shock to the system even though i had two brothers with it. The first one passed away last year but he never got any treatment and was neglected and left completely paralysed from the neck down. The other is on treatment and is doing well! I think with things coming up new it’s in the back of my mind the one that passed ended up and it scares me x
So sorry to hear about your brother passing @annelouise.hall, can absolutely see why a diagnosis would play on your mind (even with other family successfully on treatment). Know you must be feeling a very wide range of emotions so please go very gently with yourself and hope your upcoming appointment helps.
