I get the most annoying numbness in the heels of my feet! At first I thought this could be down to a number of things… Excess hard skin, standing for too long etc but I have been waking up with this problem for a week or so now and it’s really irritating. Sometimes it’s quite painful which I know sounds strange as how can numbness be painful right? But it sometimes switches between a pins and needles sensation to a numbness to something that I can on,h describe as an itch that can’t be scratched. I’ve not been diagnosed with MS I am in the process. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this before. And if so do you have any advice on how to make it stop as its driving me crazy xx
Numb things are pretty common. Sensory symptoms do tend to be unbelievably annoying when they are new, but a lot of people find they get used to them. Pain isn’t so easy though There’s no med for numbness that I know of, but pain can be helped with neuropathic painkillers (e.g. amitriptyline, pregabalin, gabapentin). Your GP may be reluctant to prescribe since you aren’t diagnosed, but you can always ask!

Hey Emma,
Numbness and pins & needles are my best friend. It doesn’t hurt but like you say switches between numbness & P&N. I’ve never had it in the heel but I do get it in the hands which drives me up the wall and no amount of shaking stops it. I had it a few years ago and after a course of steroids it went.
Hope this helps and I hope you find out one way or another the outcome of whether you have MS
