Now my 5.5 mile adventure

The sun was shining when with legs taped together to stop them slipping off the footpad I set off on my latest big adventure. A mile out of the village I soon past the lake one of my previous goals and headed up a steep hill towards the local town. Had to reverse on a pavement just on the outskirts as a gentleman in a large scooter was heading towards me. He did however congratulate me on my driving! It was at least six years since I had done any actual shopping and I was soon whizzing around Superdrug, Poundshop and then Waitrose to try and stock up on some ready meals for when my daughter goes to Italy at the end of this month. Shopping online has been a godsend for me since my husband died but my goodness it was such a joy to be physically seeing what I was buying.
There is now a Witherspoons in the town (new to me) and I was amazed at how easy ordering was on my daughter’s smartphone. Like being abroad we sat outside under the trees with our haloumi wraps and iced drinks and watched the world go by.
All too soon it was time to set off for home - back down the steep hill. over some sort of pavement cattle-grid type things which make you bounce up and down and almost off your chair. I was attacked by overhanging branches, huge nettles and several times got quite close to the kerb edge but I MADE IT 5.5 miles.
Now my daughter is planning what I should do next - probably a trip with the bus pass I have never used. Any suggestions (within reason) would be really welcome. Stay safe all Essie X

Sounds like you had a great time, and lots of fun. All power to you.

Reminds me of one of my clients when I was doing a job organising disabled access alterations - in her case, a disabled ramp and door widening to get her wheelchair around the house and out. She had got a power wheelchair, and nothing was going to hold her back. Her brother fussed over her, got worried if she went out and tried to dissuade her. She was having none of it. She was out and about with her dog. Into town, shopping, meeting friends. Enjoying life to the full.

That’s great, Essie! Keep it up!
