I had been on citalopram for about 7 weeks and they werent doing anything to build my mood or lighten the stress I am going through which is mainly down to mother dearest Who always seems to think she has things worse than anyone else a lot older than her and people with far more problems
She is a prime example of my theory that disabled people complain a lot less than able bodied people
Anyway my GP has changed my drug to prozac, has anybody elase taken this and how did it affect them?
not personally but my dad has. nothing is a quick fix. in fact i would probably say that medication on it own would have a minimal effect. counselling-theres loads of different ones or i can recommend meditation-it def offers a diff way of viewing life and its issues,
theres someone on here who expains it much better than me-will try to find a previous post of his (yes, yes, thats cos his name escapes me!)
prozac for me were a waste of time n did nothing at all, but it varies for each person, ive also been in sertraline and citalopram, i was diagnosed with severe deppression at 16yrs old and im now 34, they have only just figured out the type of antideppresants (ssri’s) dont work on me and now my dr wants to start me on a different group of anti deppressants, its called venlafaxine, i hope after all these yrs it will work, maybe its a idea too see if that particular group of tablets may not work and you just need a different type, how long have you been on anti deppressants?
been on prozac for quite a few years. Yesterday Ive increased to 40mg but I think some of my issues are reactionary to my OH needing treatment himself. But getting him to go for help is a problem of its own
l do hope the New Year will bring you some happiness - l know you are desperate to get your own accomadation and this will make a big difference to your health/mind.
l find that a high dose vitd3 helps with mood and depression - as does Spirulina - which l heard about on this site. lt contains so many good nutrients-lts natural and organic - just google it. l have been taking it for about a month. And l have found it has given me more energy - so it must also help with feeling depressed.
l do also take LDN - which l have found helps so much with fatigue and brain fog. l do not take any other meds - as l find the side-effects worse then the symptoms they are supposed to help.
As Ellie has suggested - sometimes meditation helps better. Or self-hypnosis CD’s. There is a good one by Ted Heath - which is available from ldnresearchtrust - might also be at Amazon.
All the best to you - and fingers crossed that 2013 is the start of a better future for you.
