Neuro sec ******

Been waiting 8 mths for DX, had all the tests available.

last neuro i saw was MS specialist, said if you have any questions or havn’t heard anything after tests, give his sec a ring.

so i try & try but only ever answering machine, leave messages , no reply she only works 3 days a week but never answers or replys

so frustrating…whats the point of her

rant over

Gray

Hello,

Sounds like my ms nurse. No way of contacting them other than a phone number with no answer machine. … and they never answer!!

I totally get the frustration they cause by not answering.

Totally deserved rant!!

Darren

That is so annoying and I sympathise with you. So how duo you move on from here? You could see your gp and see if they can contact the neuro for you or how about phoning the neurology ward at th hospital where your neuro works and explain the situation, perhaps someone else there could help. Cheryl:-)

I had problems getting thru to the Neuro’s secretary, tried 4 times before I listened to the whols answer machine message where she gave her colleagues number too… tried that & hey presto I got through!

I would also say to call the hospital’s main number & ask for the Neurology department - just another way round it

Good luck

Thanks guys I’ve left messages, really annoying my wife tried and left several messages about a month ago, as I was having a bad time and NOTHING Don’t these people realise how bloody important this is to us and how much of my future plans depend on outcome. Also worries me if I am DX are they going to be there to support me when I need them Gray

Sorry you are having such a tough time. If you haven’t done so already perhaps PALS could help. Phone them ( Patient Advice and Liaison Service). Every hospital has one perhaps they can get you heard or at least give you a number that will be answered.

[/quote] I did this rang pals that is. Had been going through a bad relapse neuro gave me a list of dmd’s with instruction to go away and decide which one I wished to take. He said when id made my decision to ring either his secretary or the ms nurse he gave me both numbers. Well… I rang and rang left message after message no response. This was over a period of 2 months. It made me feel very upset, very on my own, due to the relapse bringing me down I didnt have the fight in me I normally have so felt pretty helpless. I eventually started to recover from relapse and whoa did I feel angry I left one last message after 4 days still nothing so I rang pals to report it all. They were very apologetic and told me it would be looked into straight away! Within 30 mins the ms nurse rang me ! Suffice to say igot the dmd’s set up and a grovelling apology. I really didn’t want to report it not my way and I know ms nurses are very busy /overworked but 2 months and no reply I felt I had no choice ! PALS is definitely a positive way to go ! Sparkly

Hi Gray,

I think you may have the same neuro as me, we are near each other if I remember rightly?! I can never get her on the phone, but have found e-mailing her very effective. If you look on the hospital website you should find an e-mail address, or pm me, and I’ll pass it on to you.

HI

Have tried to PM you, doesnt seem to work .yes an email address would be good

Gray

Hi hunny It’s working now ,have sent you a PM Thanks Gray x

You can always ring PALS at your hospital. I promise you will get a quick response then Noreen

Have pm’d you back Gray

And Blossom is right, PALS puts a rocket under them for sure!

Thanks got it Gray x

This really is the place for good advice - all the weeeeeeeeeeks we sometimes- frustratingly try to contact/leave messages and are ignored - and on here is the answer.

Well done everyone - l am going to try this.

Have a Good Christmas all of you.

We’ll update CT scan 9. Th November left endless messages & email and nothing Been nearly 9 mths now. How is someone allowed to hold a job but never answer or return calls. I would be fired very quickly in my job if I carried on like this. Disgusted Didn’t want to go pals route, but don’t think I have a choice Sorry for rant Gray x

Gray,

please take the PALS route, we have kind of been on roughly the same timeline and I know you had other tests but my 2nd appt confirmed Dx, just the type is unclear.

I’ve discussed this with MS nurse an arranged a clinic appt to go and talk to her properly and she said they will do a thorough run thru of everything as they have more time than the consultants… I can’t believe you were one the first people I spoke to here and you are still hangng around without an answer :frowning:

Take care and get mean with your hospital if you need to - despite my likely ppms Dx I still really hope for more recovery as I feel weak as a kitten and I hate it. I guess you probably hope for the same and feel pretty abandoned by the NHS right now!

Take care, you know we’re behind you if you need support

Hi Gray

Sorry to hear you’re still being ignored. Definatelt time for PALS, they do a great job, in my experience.

Its what they are there for

Friends I have an update, out of the blue the secretary phones me today, she said she explained to me before Xmas my neuro was off ill and there was a delay . ( never spoke to her before Xmas ) . And she’d constantly tried to call me last week ( phone was here all week , didn’t ring ) Anyway neuros partner has looked at all my tests and will see me in the next 2 weeks to discuss, and a appointment will come through ASAP… Fingers crossed Gray

Qgood news let us all know how it goes xx
