MS symptoms or not?

Hey everyone. I was diagnosed in 2021. Been managing without treatment up to this point and focusing on diet and exercise. My symptoms overall are fairly mild (I.e. tingling, pins and needles - especially when exercising).

However, other little odd things happen at times and I’m just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences. Two things in particular

  1. I have a dime size spot on the right side of my head that often feels as though it’s tingly. Like pins and needles but it’s specific to this little tiny spot.
  2. I sometimes feel like my skin is hurting. Usually on my right side. Usually my right arm and right side of my face. Tender to touch. Almost like I was hit and should have a bruise but that is not the case.

Not symptoms that are overly impactful but just annoying and I’m just curious if it’s related to ms or could be something else.

Hi Ash. I kind of doubt that anyone of us can offer any great insight into your tingling etc. Not that I’m a medic but they could be caused by various things. I did have tingling across my back many years ago. They faded after while .

Can I ask why you have chosen to stay off treatments? Not something I would choose to do - are you not taking a bit of a risk and running a danger of significant relapses and damage?

I don’t know, but I’ve certainly got both of these, so in my experience they’re things that my ms can do.

Mostly because I believe the risks outweigh the benefits for me. Not a decision I’ve made lightly but something I discuss with my doctor and neurologist on an ongoing basis.

Hope all goes well for you ( I’m on on of the first DMTs - Avonex - which has some rare risks but basically just leaves me feeling a little ‘off’ for a couple of days after my weekly injection. No new lesions since I started 18 years ago)

Why don’t you have a word with your MS nurse, particularly if you’ve had these issues for a while

Exactly since those tingling spots and skin sensitivity are definitely common symptoms for MS, but honestly, a lot of things can cause them, so it’s hard to say for sure
