MS and Tattoos?

Great idea, I asked my ms nurse and she said it’s fine. Thanks x

Three tattoos done in the last 9 months.

Known to have MS for the last 3 years.

Been taking tecfidera for about the last 3 years.

Have had four or five MRIs.

Tattoos heal well (better than my wife’s in fact) and i can report NO complaints or problems!

Let the ink flow!

Dose it matter about the meds to whether it’s okay to get a tattoo?

The only thing they tell you when you go in an MRI scan is that tattooes may get hot while the scan is ongoing.

i just googled “buttock tattoo lands Rotherham pair in hospital”

thank you Spacejacket it was hilarious!

You were clearly channelling Mick when you did that google search!

Where is Spacejacket anyway?

Sue

Tattoos have certainly moved on from mainly Navy & Prison folk! Thinking what about DNR?

Thank you so much for sharing this!!

Sue

Spacejacket is #5 on this page.

Mick

you really should google “buttock tattoos land pair in hospital”

advice, empty bladder before reading it!

Just curious here, but if its ok to have a tattoo, which obviously involves needles, breaking of skin and blood, why is it "apparently" not ok to donate blood ?

What is the issue here, a tattoo not healing very well if you have MS, or the fear that MS might be passed on through blood, which I very much doubt.

Do tattooists ask about MS ?

Having two tatts I was never asked about ms. Why should it be an issue?! I was in the wheelchair for the second one and no questions asked. Btw, it is a registered studio and has an excellent reputation. The reason our blood isn’t taken is apparently, because the recipient wouldn’t know that it’s coming from someone with ms (might want to refuse if it was known?). However our organs are happily accepted as the recipient can be informed of our condition.

Wow this is my old post. I was worried about it healing because of my MS but happy to say got my cover up and all went well.

I wish I was brave enough to get a tattoo sigh.

After my ms diagnosis I had a small lotus flower tattoo - they symbolise strength and are known to flourish in tough conditions…as I’m hoping I will! I opted to have it on my wrist where I’m numb, so it didn’t hurt…every cloud!

I have tattoo- mistakes from years ago/. Diagnosed with rrms just over 2 years ago- taking tecfidera 2 years. Sorry to jump in the thread- but I’ve had eyebrow tattoo with permanent ink 3 times now and the ink fades! It just won’t stay in! Have any of you came across this?

General healing had been fine - no infections

Hi, I know this post is old, but I’m trying to figure past symptoms/‘attacks etc’ (not been diagnosed but I feel it’s a possibility and I want to have all my ducks in a row! But with ms has anyone had ‘side effects’ after having a tattoo? A day or so after I get hot, dizzy, sometimes I throw up. So I’m wondering if having a tattoo and triggering the immune response if that could be why I have such a reaction after the fact??

Hello, I never had anything like that. Are you stressed while getting a tattoo? Maybe it’s that because MS and stress don’t go. Hope you get an answer to your symptoms if you’re currently being tested x

Erm, I want to say yeah sometimes but I tend to have a lorazepam in my system because I’m a anxious person so I wouldn’t say it’s a massive stress. It’ll be 2 weeks Friday since my mris, he’s done the whole spine, head and a Dwi so:crossed_fingers:t2: But I’m scared they’re gonna say we found nothing more than anything they could possibly say! (Well atm anyway!) I’m an impatient person as it is but my symptoms are scaring me, I have another urgent neuroopthamology appointment tomorrow at a different hospital (who’s lied on my letter), I hope the other results aren’t too far away :frowning: sorry for the rant!! I think I need to make a post really x

Don’t apologise, it’s not a rant! You’re understandably worried and limbo land isn’t fun. I hope you’re results come in soon and you know one way or the other. Good luck at appointment tomorrow and take care x
