Hi, I am very confused at the moment, yesterday I had a review and the MS doctor said there has been no new liaisons with my recent MRI I had in December, but I took a phone call this morning to see the MS nurses about medication for this Monday, then about 2 hours later I took another phone call to go this Monday to get a MRI scan of just my brain and I have to get blue dye. This MRI I have to go to on Monday was sent by a doctor who told me in the first place I had MS, and it’s the same doctor who has sent me for this new scan of my brain. I am very confused, as yesterday everything seemed to be ok. Does anyone one have any idea, or has anyone been thorough similar.

Ok, my MS started 2007 and i got the big MRI machine. Now i have had several MRI done every 6 or 12 months. For the first psrt no new legions but thr last showed legions at the base of my spine. Next MRI was head only showed new legions on my brain. What i am trying to say is let the doctors worry about the MRI results and take the attitude that no news is good news, else you could drive yourself mental.
Hi,
They do like to MRI quite frequently, in my experience! Especially around the time of diagnosis.
My understanding is that the contrast dye helps to show whether any lesions (i.e. areas of inflammation) are new, or whether they are longstanding. If you didn’t have contrast before, maybe that’s what they are looking at? Could that be relevant to the treatment they can offer you?
But they also do MRIs eg when people are starting treatment (for a snapshot of the starting position) or just to check how things are going. So I wouldn’t be too alarmed.
