Mortified by hot flushes!

I’m constantly embarrassed by sweat running down my face, neck and arms. I’m not long after steroid treatment which does usually make it worse. Before you ask I’m only 23 so I pretty sure I’m not experiencing a life change just yet! Anyone else have this problem and anyway to help control this? Steph

Are you on any medication that could cause this,I ask as I get flushing of the body on my morphine patches and an aunty of mine who is also on morphine actually runs with sweat down her face and neck. You maybe should have a word with your gp and gt your thyroid checked.

Hiya

I’ve been getting really bad night sweats lately and a very flushed face during the day at odd times, when I’ve not been doing very much.

In the past the night sweats have normally been connected to my MS playing up. Although it was playing up because of a bad cold, it seems to be settling down but, the night sweats are getting worse.

I’m 39 so older than you but I don’t think it’s an age thing as I’m not THAT old. lol

I was thinking last night, when I got up to have a wash and cool down, that I should probably go to see my GP to see if he has any ideas and if my hormony levels can be tested.

My old neuro said that it could be connected to MS, but my new neuro says that it isn’t (I don’t like him very much as he seems to contradict everything that my previous (brilliant) neuro said).

Hi am so pleased someone else has posted on this…I am not dx but spent several weeks in hospital then 6 wks in rehab after suffering neurological symptoms…My hot flushes started in October when in hospital…and gradually got worse day and night. Am just awaiting hormone blood tests to see if I am going through the start of the change, only 44 but it can happen no other symptoms associated with the change and blood tests two yrs ago were fine indicating I was.no where near the change…lol the change can as others say come way too early but I also read that neurological flushing is common too…in ms and other conditions. my gp is checking my thyroid too and TB and other conditions can cause it too…so perhaps keep and eye on it and ask gp for hormone bloods. if they come back ok then she should review things or write to your neuro also on this… Em x
