Hot Flushes

Hi, I haven’t posted on here for a while, I have been in limbo for three years and for the last year have hardly had any symptoms apart from slight pins and needles in my lower left leg which is fantastic. I have been starting to doubt that the whole MS scare ever took place as my MRI scan proved negative. Can anyone tell me if early menopause is a symptom of MS, I am 44 and I am driven wild by hot flushes every half hour all day and night sweats during the evening the hot flushes have been happening now for around four weeks and I am at the end of my tether with them. I have had hormonal blood tests done at the GP where you have a blood test one month and then the next month. The first one said possible for perimenopause and the second said I wasn’t perimenopasal, so I am unsure if its early menopause or if the hot flushes are on their own related to MS. The hot flushes start at my mid area and feels like a blood rush to my head making my body and neck sweat and feel on fire.

Thanks for reading

Hi Linda, sounds perimenopausal to me.

I started mine at 42 (about 5 years before I started getting MS symptoms). Hormones go up and down so it’s possible they weren’t showing on 2nd test.

They are awful and you have my sympathy. There’s some very good natural products that help… so have a google and see what you can find.

Glad you’re under the GP as it could be something else that’s causing them… but they sound menopausal. Did you mother or sisters (if any) suffer badly? It’s often in genes… my mum and 2 sisters all suffered badly.

Also, if it’s unbearable and GP thinks it is menopause, it’s well worth thinking about HRT. I wanted to do it ‘naturally’ but was going nuts with it so was HRT for about 10 years. Really helped.

Hope you can get something soon that helps and find out if it is menopause.
