I have both wheelchair and walking stick. I was wondering if anyone has been and how did you manage if you have mobility problems. Ive heard Malta hilly!
Thank you in advance.

Just so you don’t feel ignored! Just asked hubby who lived there (albeit in '72!) But he says he would still go (with me, and my wheelchair!). Yes there are hills, but they can be avoided. He remembers it fondly. By the way don’t be confused by the username, happened when the site changed, so welcome I used to be Maude, which again isn’t my name but is actually my car!
Thank you Maude/Gordon…
Much appreciated…
Hi Tally, I haven’t been to Malta but have just come back from a cruise in Norway, which depending on the port was quite hilly.
I did a bit of research before we went to see what each port was like. Maybe you could do the same, the local tourist board, guide to Malta, google searches and google maps may be useful.
In some ports depending on the hilliness I only managed local flat areas. Beyond that my hubby went off exploring by himself, climbed hills in search of mini waterfalls and other vantage points. He was happy with his camera and I was happy if he was.
Would you consider taking a mobility scooter?
Thank you for your reply … we too thought about a cruise to Norway so I am glad you told me it was hilly.
You ask about mobility scooters… i have 1 but wouldn’t take it abroad BUT have heard that 1 can be hired and brought to the hotel. I will look into that.
Yes, I have looked on the Maltese tourist board and it all looks positive, we want to jump on buses and go here and there, dont want to remain in 1 place all week.
Thank you for your post. Much appreciated.
Hi Tally again, Malta is only about 9x5 miles, the buses used to be colour coded, maybe still are, useful. Not sure you could get lost! Have a lovely time.
Maude
Thank you.
I have determination to enjoy every minute.
Thank you
Yes, that said worth going. At most ports there was the option to use the land train, a bit like at the sea side. You could leave your wheelchair with the attendant and see the area in greater detail.
The advertised tours that went further afield all had accessibility details, so again something to think about.
As said lots of places have open top buses, so this may also be an option.
My daughter visited Malta, not sure which part, I will ask her what she can remember.
Awww thank-you.
Yes the tourist open top bus, good idea and as for the train, wow, thank-you, I didnt know about that so yes, I will certainly see more of the country.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Roll on Malta
