I have always been a curvey size 12. Not skinny by any means but Ive noticed that I have started to lose weight… not on any diet at all… in fact I was quite shocked considering what I have eaten over the last 3 weeks.
Would this be anything to do with MS ?
Sami
Don’t want to alarm you - but don’t assume everything is down to the MS.
Probably best to have a word with your GP to get reassurance.
Typically I would say gaining weight is a result of having MS, because you become less physicaly capable of exercise the longer you have it. Spend more time sitting or lying down and as a result burn off callories slower than before.
Losing weight might be the sign of something else, but I’m not going to say what that is in ignorance. Go see a doctor just to be sure.
Then again…MS can cause pretty severe diarrhoea if you happen to have suffered with that over the 3 weeks, you may have an explanation for why your body is getting thinner, because it’s not fully processing the food you have been eating.
Take Care

Hi Sami, as others have said, it is more common to gain weight when our activity level is reduced.
I too think you need to get this checked out with your GP.
Let us know how you go on, yeh?

thanks for your replies guys… I will monitor it over the next few weeks. If I loose anymore then I will go and see my gp.
Have you been rushing around more than normal and burning it all off, perhaps? As others have said, though, you know what is normal for you, and it is a good idea to pay attention to significant changes that you cannot explain. If something feels odd, it is usually good to check it out with the nurse or GP. Alison x
Hi Sami,
There was one period of 6 months when I lost weight, ( have put it back on and lots more now!). Went to the Dr for tests, thyroid etc.
Turned out it was down to loss of appetite ( only realised when I worked out how little I was eating ) and fast transit of food.
Best to get it checked out though.
