Loosing a child (warning upseting post )

My daughter is a child minder and one of the children she looks after passed away in January this year.

Its been 4 months but the pain is as raw now as it was then, Henry was just 3 and had just started nursery my daughter had been looking after him since he was just 6 months old and loved him very much.

Today we had a reminder of how he passed when all the national papers picked up on the story, it was a shock to suddenly see his smiling face looking out at me from the paper.

He caught a rare strain of flu that caused meningitis and passed away very quickly, we were all disbelieving that this could happen so fast.

Then 2 days later my 9 yr old grandsons best friend Otis went to bed with a cold and 5 minutes later he also passed away, things couldn’t have been any harder for all of us and the childrens parents

I cant look a dinosaur without thinking of Henry and when my grandsons birthday come around in September it will be hard for him as they both shared birthday parties.

When i think of all the children that are abused and killed by supposed love ones i think why was 2 loved and lively boys taken from loving parents and friends and family,

Forgive me for rambling but i just don’t understand why.

Oh Barbara ! This is just so sad…no parent should ever have to lose a child…it must be a pain that worsens instead of eases.

My heart goes out to you and all concerned

TodaY I went to auntie’s funeral. She was a larger than life 75 year old lady, who suffered several awful illnesses. But her life was full…

Full of love for her family and friends, who all loved her back.

Her last words as she held her daughter’s hand were ‘Its good to be loved’

So sorry to hear that barbara . My heart goes out to you

Thanks Polly, its been a very difficult time for all concerned , we all know that life is not infinate but loosing children so young is just the hardest thing we have ever had to deal with.

Im sorry you lost your auntie (((((((((((((((hugs ))))))))))))))))) so glad that she had a very full life.

I think we have cryed rivers over the last few months times when you lease expect it like when you bump into someone who dosnt know and they ask after him and you have to take a deep breath and tell them Henrys no longer with us, things like that,

The nursery where he went is planting a tree in his memory and is running a few things over the rest of the term to raise awairness of this terrable illness,

Wll wil close now cos i dont know what else to say and i have a big lump in my throat.

Sorry for your loss Polly loosing someone is never easy no matter how old they were.

Oh Barbara.

That is absolutely awful.

My heart goes out to you all.

I hope your grandson doesn’t suffer too much when it is his birthday in September. That wouldn’t be good but it would be very understandable.

((((((Hugs))))))

Things have been difficult as now the papers have got the story out as Henrys parents are campaining for meningitis now to get the government to vacinate all under 5s not just babies with the latest vaccine, the government refused saying it dosnt make economical sense to do that what price do you put on childrens lifes.

Thanks to everyone who replied to me.
