Just to let you all know that my jaundice seems to have been caused by an iron deficiency. I have been on a very low fat diet for a while now and had stopped eating the piece of very dark chocolate every day and stupidly assumed that my one a day multivitamin with minerals included iron.
After drinking gallons of water I am slowly getting back to my self and the doctor is sending me some iron pills via the pharmacist.
I don’t know if my drugs have added to the problem but anyway it looks like I did it to myself.
Glad you got this sorted, im doing or trying to stick to a low fat diet too and didnt realise about the iron, a reason to eat chocolate at last…ive been , looking at the deliciously ella website ( the raw browniees are great) for ideas struggling to findmain meals to eat, can u advise any books etc. Thanks zoe
It is hard isn’t it though I thought I was doing well, loosing a few pounds tool. Most of my ideas came from the book ‘taking control of Multiple Sclerosis’ by George Jelinek. I don’t go completly by what he says (it would be too expensive). Most of my main meals are fish, Quorn, pulses and occasionally chicken. I also eat lots and lots of fruit and veg. For treats I eat hazelnuts and almonds, (will include very dark chocolate too), I eat some soya natural yogurt everyday with kiwi fruit and banana, for tea I eat pitta bread toasted with olive oil and with fish or beans and salad or honey. Only use a little olive oil for stir frys but add neat olive oil to most meals. Unfortunately milk chocolate doesn’t help the iron problems.
