Fatigue.......ideas welcome

Hi All!

I’m hoping for some ideas to help improve my fatigue. I have recently realised that heat makes me bed bound for a day or 2 so now know to avoid that but was wondering if anyine knows of any dietary amendments that might help?

hi mrs happy

have you tried amantadine?

i have and didn’t really notice any improvement but worth a try.

modafinil sounds better but GPs are reluctant to prescribe it.

a quick google of foods to combat fatigue names nuts as the thing to try.

any type of unsalted nuts.

also get your blood tested for B12 and D3 deficiency.

Oh thank you…I will get my bloods done and definitely go nut shopping! I don’t want to rely on drugs if I can help it so I’ll give them a go first and see if anything improves. Really appreciate the advice!

good luck

dark chocolate helps with everything!

Oooh I can definitely do the dark chocolate! Thank you…you’ve made my day with that comment!!!

All the B Vits will help. l take Biotin B7 and Thiamine B1 B Complex and B12 drops. Vitd3 vitk2 magnesium. Much rather do this then have prescription meds.

Google Thiamine and MS -also B12 deficiency MS - and Biotin and MS - the same with vitd3 deficiency MS.

l try not to eat many carbs - keep off bread/cereal/biscuits etc as l find carbs just sap my strength and energy. Keep to a high fat/protein - dark green veg and lots of berries and salad.

And of course dark chocolate!

Hello Mrs Happy

Chocolate is almost always the answer! But it should be dark chocolate so eating bars of dairy milk or scoffing maltesers may only help your mood but do nothing for fatigue, do the opposite maybe.

But also, fatigue management techniques. Have you seen Fatigue | MS Trust there are some things that can be helpful, like not trying to do too much at once, balancing activities, exercise, getting rests as well as sleeping properly.

Some people find things like meditation to be good for fatigue.

Thank you so much for all your help and advice you have all given me some really good ideas…I wasn’t expecting to get such good information from the forums but you have all really helped me! THANK YOU!!!

Hi Mrs Happy

I have not yet posted in MS forums although I have had MS for many many years. I am in secondary progressive stage now.

However, I was recently persuaded by a friend to let him take a video of me explaining about my MS and fatigue. So embarrassing to see and hear your self on video. I am okay if it is in a work capacity but sharing personal info?? Anyway i did it and as a result have helped several other people with MS reduce or banish their fatigue and brain fog. It may help you to know what I did to go from having fatigue crashes every week to having none for over 11 months?

If you would like I can figure out how to post the video link here and then if you want to know more you can email me perhaps?

Together we can make sure we live a full and fun life!

Mandy
