Is this optic neuritis???

Hello I was diagnosed about 4 years ago, I have a symptom where every few weeks or days or even every day I have extreme pain when moving my eyes it alternates between eyes, it feels like someone is sticking a needle through the centre of my eyeball and pouring shampoo into it at the same time, sometimes I have a tiny blind spot, when I touch my eyeball during the pain it feels like it is vibrating, sometimes one eye is looking slightly in a different direction to the other, sometimes I don’t get it for weeks, I have never lost sight in either eye, the pain has got worse over the last 5 years since I first had it about 5 years ago.

I would suggest getting checked out with an optician and having the scan of your optic nerve.

In the meantime do you suffer with dry eye? When mine are in need of eye drop they burn, I have to in still several times a day.

I don’t get dry eyes no, they feel normal until the jumping feeling starts and then a few seconds later the pain, the optic nerves also looked healthy when I had a scan 2 years ago, just wondered if anyone else had the exact same symptoms as mine seem weird and different to normal optic neuritis

I also get ocular migraines, which consist of a black spot in my vision, flashing lights with zig zagging lines. These can last anything from a few minutes to a few hours, and apparently they can be aggravated by screen time or certain foods. Obviously I’m not a doctor but this is my experience of something similar. I’ve not experienced optic neuritis, but have experienced these attacks since my ms diagnosis. I hope you’re able to get some answers and help.

Thanks I get the tiny black spot and I get the zig zag lines occasionally and a halo in my vision so maybe its related, thanks for your reply.

You’re welcome, and hope things settle down for you.
