I'm terrified, what does this mean?

Sorry everyone. I’m new to all this. I have no diagnosis yet. But my symptoms so far are mainly numbness. In my hands and fingers, they go semi numb and sometimes totally numb. One finger has been half numb for weeks. One foot has been cold and wet feeling for three months. The other foot has been numbish in patches for a week. One toe numb bits for two weeks.
I don’t know how ms works, I know it is different for everyone, but can I expect the numbness to get better? Is this a ‘flare’? How long does a flare last?? Or maybe this is numb just here to stay? I’m exhausted from all the worry. I’ve also have long term bad anorexia and osteoporosis. I feel like the outlook is very bleak and I cannot stop imagining the worst. I’m really sorry for the miserable post.

Hi Zani

No need to apologise, we’ve all been in a similar position at one time or another.
Have you had an appointment with Neurology or have one lined up?

As you note, MS is different for everyone, but the basics are the same - inflammation in the central nervous system can cause damage (lesions) which causes various symptoms - often referred to as a relapse (or flare, episode etc.) Symptoms can resolve (remit) partially, completely or remain the same depending on the level of damage. How long a relapse lasts is like asking how long is a piece of string I’m sorry to say.

I have some symptoms that come and go, some arrived and have never gone away, and I have adapted/become used to them. I have medication for some of the symptoms which helps too.

One the best things I do is mindful meditation, which helps with all manner of things and not just my MS symptoms. It is worth trying.
