Oh Son, this is so distressing for you. There are some things we just have no control over and this is one of them, eh? I dont think the woman in question is looking down on you. She doesnt see you as her priority is all. I feel like peole dont see my case as their priority either.
We are at the mercy of these faceless beaurocrats and there is next to nothing we can do.
If your move is delayed a week, then I hope when it does happen, it is good and you will have nade the right choice to move.
Try to hold it together, eh? Would it be possible to speak to the woman you are swapping with, to explain your side of things. Surely she can wait a week?
Its very upsetting Sonic that these people have no compassion and empathy…if she did she would reaslise how much this would mean to you in terms of quality of life.
Sadly many of these people are clerks with not a lot of thinking outside the box.
To be truthful, since I have been ill I look back on some decisions I made in my work capacity and I would make different decisons now that I have suffered being at the mercy of beaurocrats myself.
They just don’t know any better !!
Hold it together and as Poll says I am sure the other lady will wait a week.
Can you phone again and ask to speak to a manager stress the importance of the exchange on medical grounds. Surely another housing officer could deal with this in her absence, you just need someone who will take ownership of it! At the very least they should be able to give you an indication of when you are likely to be able to sign for the property, move etc and this may help you get organised.
Im sure you wont miss out though over a week, good luck!

I hope it all works out OK Sonia. Small minded people seem to take great pleasure in throwing their weight about given any opportunity - take heart from the fact that you are moving into the council area with the decent housing person and away from this one!
Hi sonia, Thats normal for council offices, theyre all jobsworth - or seem to be. I hope I didnt upset anyone by saying that. I had a similar thing happen when first went sick, I put the forms in for rent rebate and was very nearly evicted threatened of it because of the council, so your allowed to rant all you like. Its a shame though because you worked so hard to acheive the move and they mess it up. Good Luck Sonia . Frank.
Another point is , move anyway as planned, theres not much they can do, its only paperwork. I dare you ! If you have any probs just say you had my full permission Frank.
