Hi, this is something that must be done with great care and careful consideration. I employ 3 ladies as carers. One came from an equally disabled friend. She has been with me for 5 years now. I couldn’t have got a better match, if I had manufactured her myself!

My sister is one of the others and the 3rd is her best friend. Again I am happy with both of them.

Do you not know anyone who could recommend someone suitable?

If I were to need any new carers, I would turn to Social Services for help. They would advertise and interview in their offices to safeguard me from any difficult situations.

Don’t forget to do a criminal search on whoever you shortlist. Bringing a virtual stranger into your home on a personal level is a massive undertaking, as I’m sure you already realise.

Good luck in your quest and I hope it all goes well.

There are agencies you could approach if there is a delay in getting sorted, as this would give you the immediate assistance you need.

HI Sacha - I’m very concerned at the thought of you placing such an ad. Please would you consider using a care agency? HomeInstead Senior Care have lots of offices in the London area and nationwide a very good reputation.

Here’s the website address - www.homeinstead.co.uk

If you click on the tab that says ‘find your local care office’ you can enter your postcode and it will give you the nearest office to where you are. Don’t be put off if you think it’s too far away from you because each office covers a wide area and they’ll most likely have guys and girls nearer to you than the office is… All the staff are DBS checked, and the HomeInstead training is excellent, so you should be matched with someone who is able to meet your needs.

Please stay safe.
