Hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself - today is my first day on the forum. I was diagnosed a few weeks back, still coming to terms with the shock. It has been a traumatic year, and I’m glad to be able to draw a line under it, and look forward to 2014. Just made a lovely lemon drizzle cake - I would like to offer it to all of you, with a nice cup of tea. I was just thinking my cake is a bit like my newfound life: sweet, bitter, sour, but overall, satisfying and full of aroma. Thank you for being there, it is so important for people like me, new to this, and scared, to read through, and smile, and cry, and think I’m not alone! Lia
Hi Lia, welcome

Welcome to the forum!
It’s a bit quiet on here at the moment. Everyone must be having a snooze after the xmas festivities
I’m sorry to hear of your diagnosis but this is a good place to come for advice and help. If you have questions don’t be scared to ask.
I love lemon drizzle cake so i want to put in my order early before its all gone. Can i have the biggest piece please? but i want coffee with mine thanks! Yum!
The time around diagnosis is difficult so take it one day at a time and eat lots of chocolate! (or cake!) lol!

Welcome to this site, I joined a few months back after having my dx last April.
For me finally getting a dx was a strange experience firstly I felt immense relief that I wasn’t going mad after all!
Then when reality hit I experienced a period of low mood and frustration.
This forum is a fab place everyone has always been extremely welcoming and always answered my questions (which I’m sure some must have been a bit wacky!!)
Hope you are coping well with your dx.

Hello Lisa
Welcome to the boards. Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis…it is quite a shock. Try and take it one day at a time…you will find lots of lovely people on here, happy to offer support.
Lemon drizzle cake…sounds delicious!! Now I’m not in to baking myself but I make the perfect guest. Always happy to try homemade goodies with a cuppa tea…always tea
Take care xxx
Hello and welcome, I’ve only been on the forum for a few months but it has saved my sanity a few times. I guess I am the token American here, but I live in Belgium, this was the closest English speaking forum I could find, and I couldn’t have found a better one. Sorry for the reason you found us, but I’m glad you did! Greg
Hi Lia, Hello and welcome. I’m newly diagnosed also. There is a lot to read and I’m still full of questions. The boards have been really helpful though! Good luck with it. You’re not alone Lorna xx
Hi Lia and welcome (a virtual slice of lemon drizzle would go down a treat if you have some free).
You will have lots of friends here that will help you through the bad days and laugh with you on the good days.
I was diagnosed in 2005 and have found this forum a massive help. There is always someone on here to chat with and ask/offer advice to. I have made a huge amount of friends on here since diagnosis.
Look forward to chatting with you.

Hi Lia (lovely name!)
What a shame that this God awful s*&@t brings us all together, metaphorically speaking. That said, it’s definitely better to know that I’m not experiencing it alone. We’re sailing these seas together and what a fine bunch of shipmates they are.
Welcome on board

ps. Now we’ve allowed ourselves that delicious piece of Lemon Drizzle cake, now’s the time to start taking control of the situation. Know your enemy and adapt and modify. The first book I read was Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis by Professor George Jelinek. He suffers from MS himself and is a professor of Emergency Medicine. If I brought only one book, it would be this one.
Welcome Lia. This is a very friendly and helpful site. Lots of true cyber friends who really understand. I would love a piece of your cake hun xxxx
Hi Lia,
I’ve been dx for 2 years now.
take care

Hi Lia,
I’m relatively new too having been diagnosed in 2010 with RRMS. You’ll find lots of lovely, helpful people on here ready to listen and offer support when you need it. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Take it easy, listen to your body and take it one day at a time.
Hugs. xx
Lia and welcome to the forum
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis - it took me the best part of a year to come to terms with mine, it’s like an unwanted rollercoaster ride. I do agree with you that cakes (and chocolate) are a great cure for sadness though, your lemon drizzle sounds lovely.
I was diagnosed almost 5 years ago but I still turn to the good folks on here for advice and comfort sometimes. It’s also a good place to share news, gossip and sometimes a joke or two. I hope you find it as much of a help as I have.

Welcome Lia,
Cake for me too please. As you can probably tell we are all a bit daft on here at times. Except me of course.
Just to give you a bit of hope - I’m 12 years diagnosed and will be off to the gym tonight and I’m looking forward to dance class starting up again. MS need not mean the end of the world - just a slight adjustment.
Take care and never give in

Hi Lia,
I guess that all he virtual lemon drizzle cake has gone by now, not to worry I am dreaming up some warm chocolate brownies… hmmmmmmm…
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis it takes time to get your head round it but its not all doom and gloom.
I was diagnosed in August and I am still learning about RRMS’ foibles and hiccups. I am due to start disease modifying drugs (DMD) soon so life will change a little again.
This site is lovely and the help I have had from the other members has been valuable.
Take care
