Some time ago I asked if the Area MS Groups still arrange Short Breaks holidays.
Having not found any, I thought why not try to arrange a short break hotel holiday ourselves?
Yes, us with M.S. with or without spouses, partners etc.
Just as an idea, I recall the MS Group covering Macclesfield & Congleton areas in Cheshire, arranging 4 nights half board breaks & evening entertainment at hotels in North Wales. One hotel was Bodelwydden Castle Abergele. 5 days Mon - Fri on a Bed, Breakfast & Evening meal basis.
Anyone interested in a UK mini break?

Can’t travel any more as my husband has Alzheimer’s.
Good luck and happy travels.

Ahhh Flower, as if you don’t have enough on your over loaded plate.
Is there any way you could get Carers in for your hubby or a Respite Centre?
I know a few couples where each person needs Care. A lady I knew took a big decision after 15years of caring for her husband, also with Dementia. She found a Care Home for her hubby to attend on a temporary basis as needed. Any priors between 1 night up to 28 nights. Just a thought, cos you need a break & support too x

I’m doing battle with Social Services at the moment.
They only wanted to assess him, but I’ve told them they need to assess us both.
She said she’d do it by phone, but I’ve insisted on a visit.
How can they assess something they haven’t seen?
I could tell a pack of lies!
She’s coming next Tuesday when she’s in the area.
I suspect they’ll only sit up and take notice if I threaten to harm him or myself!
We do share a care visit each morning which we have to pay in full for.
Day centres are £91 and £80 per day but he doesn’t want to go without me, and if he goes he wants to come home after an hour, so I’m not prepared to waste that kind of money.

I don’t blame you Eve, you’re going through so much shot (change the vowel) you deserve a medal. These phone calls are a cop out, dealing with real lives
Good Luck next week Eve, don’t let 'em beat you. Xx

A totally admirable and brilliant suggestion.
Not exactly a short holiday but Overcoming MS have annual residential events and periodic meetings/ conferences- see link
I haven’t been to any as they tend to be some distance from me in central Scotland and for the coming few months I will be supporting my wife as she goes through chemotherapy and then immunotherapy
Just to say : my best wishes to you - and your husband
