Hi gang, Hope all ok?
I used to get little electric shocks on my old scooter…but my new one is even worse!
If anyone touches me we both get a small shock and if I touch the button on a lift or a metal door handle I get a small shock.
Anyone else get this and has anyone found a remedy. Someone told me that you can get something to ‘ground’ it but I don’t know what.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat xx
Answering my own question here:
http://www.apparelyzed.com/electricshock.html
I keep my scooter in my hall which has vinyl flooring. Can someone who understand these things read the above link and tell me if I put a rug down and keep scooter on that, will it lessen the shocks?
Thanks,
Pat xx
It is more likely your clothing - Google “Static Electricity”.
I have had it after taking off a particular sweater, and I used to get it staying in some hotels after walking along a carpeted corridor.
Not Lately.

Hi Pat
My hubby got so fed up with the shocks he got when he touched me sat in my wheelchair, so he went googling mad. Eventually he found a little device that clips on my chair, which has an elastic type bracelet that goes on my wrist, and though this sounds ‘off the planet’ it works. Put it this way, if. I forget to slip my wrist in, he very quickly reminds me.
If you go into eBay and type in anti static wrist strap and they range from £1.50 upwards and Phil said you will need one that has got a lead on it with a crocodile clip one end, as some are just a band with no lead, and that wouldn’t work. The crocodile clip goes on to one of the screws or bolts and that earths it.
Hope this helps.

Hi Pam, thanks so much for that advice!
I’ve been out a couple of times on scooter with my anti static wristband. I did still have a couple of small shocks on buttons for pedestrian crossings…BUT no other shocks when pressing buttons in lift and no shocks when anyone touches me…OR from change when I’m paying for something!!!
So thank you and thank Phil for me. Tell him I put the crocodile clip on a metal thing that holds the basket on.
I’m doing ok thanks hon. Feeling much better now I’m back to normal…and no more hospital appointments till 24th October!!
Lots of love,
Pat xx

Glad to hear you are doing ok, and no appointment till Octqober, that must be such a relief for you.
According to the news, next week we are having a heatwave, blinds down and fans on again then.
Enjoy your weekend.
