hi everyone

i’ve posted several times about my UTIs and the cold from hell but today its gone to a new level.

i was shivering even though sat next to a warm radiator so i went to bed.

i went out like a light and only woke up when my husband brought me scrambled egg and toast to eat in bed.

i really didnt want to eat but tried anyway.

one mouthful and i vomited (luckily a litter bin was to hand)

last time i remember feeling like this it was just before i was sent for iv steroids

poor me, i think i need a pity party

I am sorry your feeling so rotton, my back is aching like mad right where my kidney’s are but I don’t feel as bad as you do.

Hi,

It sounds very like a UTI I had over the Summer. I didn’t have any symptoms apart from not feeling so good. I then got the shakes, vomited and had a temperature of over 40. I ended up in hospital for 3 days whilst they treated the infection and got my temperature down. This was my first introduction to UTIs.

Hi Carole sorry that tou are feeling so unwell, it does sound like a really bad uti, I have now been put on long term antibiotics till I see the urology consultant on the 15th January. My bladder is still playing up though. How is your self catheterising going ? Take care and hope you feel better soon. Karen. Xxxx

thanks all, its lovely knowing that you care.

saw gp this morning and he explained that the shakes were rigor most likely caused by a UTI

listened to my chest and it was clear

gave me 7 days trimethiprim which will hopefully sort both problems out.

i told doc that it couldnt be a UTI because i’m self catheterising. he said thats probably what caused it!

anyway he asked me for a sample and yuck! like tomato soup!

grrr i’m doing my best to self cath and end up with a bad UTI

anyway i’m going to cook something nice for tea

Poor you but glad you have seen the Doc and have antibiotics. You should feel heaps better in 48 hours or so as they kick in. Drink plenty of fluids even if you can only manage small frequent sips at first.

And with the self cathing double check all your hygiene routine when you do it. Wipe your “bits” with a moist cloth front to back, wash hands before unwrapping cath and dispose of cath and use a new one if you aren’t successful first go.

Sorry it’s a UTI Carole. That bladder has been so much trouble for you lately. I really sympathize as I’ve had similar problems with mine as you know. As Belinda says, hopefully you’ll start to feel better within a couple of days. In the meantime - rest loads and take care of yourself. Happy New Year. Teresa xx
