My wife was doing a clear out for our local charity shop and realized that I own no lace up shoes or trainers all slip on. Recently diagnosed RRMS, even most of my clothes are jogging shorts or jogging trousers loose t-shirts( jogging I wish) even my work boots are zip up. indeed the only trousers and belts I wear are work related…Now has anyone else subliminally changed their clothes and footwear or activities without really
realizing
I’ve changed mine, but did realise what I was doing and I didn’t like it one bit, but hey it could be worse.

Same here. The heels all went to the charity shop a long time ago, along with all the favourite dresses and skirts that look silly with flats. I knew what I doing all right, and I did like it either.
Its very sad isn’t it alison 100 ![]()
My guess is that men tend on average to have a more pragmatic and less emotionally-charged attachment to their clothes than most women have to theirs. This would fit with your very practical and sensible subliminal changes.
As I woman, I was obliged to make those same changes, but there was nothing subliminal about it! ![]()
Nothing subliminal about it. Shoes were the first to go, I sat and put them all on one more time before they were despatched to the charity shop. I loved those heels. Now it’s pull on trousers, with stretch, I can’t manage buttons and zips etc. skirts are a no no, I can manage pull on dresses. Nothing with buttons now, and I try for stretchy fabric and often go a size bigger to make it easier getting them on and off. I even need shoes half a size bigger because my feet swell. It’s hard finding something to wear for special occasions within those constraints
Great replies everyone, One of the first activities to go with myself was fishing.I used to shore fish so lots of rocks to traverse… many a fall but i put it down to me being clumsy.but my favorite hobby which I’m slowly losing is my metal detecting…I know it’s geeky but I truly believe it’s the closest thing to time travel you can get lol.I used to be able to go 8hrs easy then over the past couple of years it’s gotten to maybe an hour if I’m very lucky.on stubble fields I’m ok pasture ok if grass isn’t too long but ploughed field’s…I spend more time picking myself up than detecting.im so determined not to give this up as I really enjoy it …it gets me out plus the club I’m a member of are like minded good folk. Any thoughts?
