Hi! Im 63, and have just got a diagnosis of MS. I have balance and co-ordination problems, and can
t walk without 2 sticks. Im also feeling weak and overwhelmed some of the time, and very, very tired. Confusion and difficulty finding commonplace words, and inability to organise myself to complete the simplest tasks are also a problem! But, hey, it could be much worse! My husband and I are both retired, he
s looking after me really well, and the news has been generally a relief. I think it`s now learning more about how my body will be affected, and making the most of every opportunity to enjoy life when it comes up. Thank you all for reading this - not sure how much sense it makes!!
Sorry to hear your news, but pleased to hear that it’s been a relief to find out what the culprit is.
Now you’ve got your diagnosis, do make as much use as necessary of your MS nurse and all the other potential help that’s available (e.g. physio) - it can make a massive difference
Don’t forget to tell the DVLA about your diagnosis and check out any paperwork you have (e.g. mortgage) that might have a critical health clause because MS is a payable condition.

Hi Karen, Thank you for your helpful advice. My new MS nurse has offered to call round before my hospital appointment, which is so kind. Im busy filling in my DVLA form and applying for a Blue Badge. I
m sure theres lots more to consider, but it
s a steep learning curve, having always been really fit and active until last summer. My sons tels me it
s like a form of grieving, which sounds about right just now!
