Hello, I’m back. Just waded through the backlog, so I’m even more confused than usual. Just wanted to mention that the IoD needs a pavillion, if it doesn’t already have one. Apparently “pavillion” is derived from “papillon” - it resembles a butterfly with its wings open. So we really need one in recognition of Ms. FB’s contributions to this thread and to the invasion (if/when it happens). Other constructions for significant thread members are under investigation. A serpentine lake for Sssue, perhaps? An electricity plant for traceydc? A cattery for catwomancarole? AD has probably laid claim to Osbourne House, so that’s him settled.
CD You’re confused… and then yo start on about the Papillion pavillion, I just thought it was a book by some French dude. Henri something
On IoD can we have some caves for cheese storage?
Mick…illion
seems like I was close, apart from my poor spelling
There will be Cheese Mines. I have it on good authority, from a respected cheeologist that there are significant reserves of cheese under the IoD.
Different cheeses have been located in the separate strata ranging from brie to Parmigiano-Reggiano depending on depth and cheeological period.
Mick, you will be happy, I assume, to adopt the title of Cheese Engineer and over see the production and distribution of all the cheese mined, according to need and appetite.
AD
My destiny at last…
Sounds like a great job, you might want to take appetite out of the equation or they may not be as much distribution going on as first thought.
delighted to serve
with appropriate beverage

It’s a great book. I read it many years ago.

I’m very happy to be getting a lake. So long as I can have some of the comestibles too. And the cats should be specially trained not to chase ducks if that’s possible.

Notice If you notice this notice you will notice this notice is not worth noticing
I would like to donate that sign I came across somewhere or other to the cause You can all decide who this will be in honour of… Thank you CD I for one second your notion of a pavillion xx
clearly it works - wot notice???
M
What sign?
I think a Papillon would be nice.
Give the cats something to chase apart from ducks.
(Not really!)
§
A silly thing like that sign was never going to confuddle us ! It’s got to go some ! Oh No! Sue you’re absolutely right what are we to about cats chasing ducks. . . That can go on the agenda for the next leadership / governance meeting pending a decision. . .
Who’s been having meetings?
All the rest of us. Obviously we don’t invite you. You’d just mess things up with trying to sell us all a load of rhino dung or some other nonsense we could do without.
Oh.
I could make the tea.
Tea etiquette is a hard one to get right you can’t please everyone. Personally I like it so weak it’s milk with essence of tea! Some like it cold, some like it with lemon and honey this is not an exhaustive list! Then there’s what it comes in. My favourite is a cup and saucer not everyone’s choice I know. It must always be from a pot though you can’t beat it and it really does matter how you stir the tea … now that could be a very vague area… I hope you have enough etiquette to use a tea spoon at least!!
I drink coffee. Black. Strong. In a mug (with a decent handle so I don’t drop the thing). That’s it. Easy, that’s me.
§
And gin. Preferably Gordon’s, with lemon and fevertree tonic. Or Bombay Sapphire with lime and tonic. But will make do with whatever I’m given. And wine, all varieties of. And I’d like to drink malt whisky. But probably best not.
I do like a few crisps or other nibbles for when I’m drinking my gin or wine. But will manage without.
§
twiglets?
M
Why not? More marmite the better.
