Brain Fog

That sounds brilliant. Shame about the lack of snow.

I wonder if it would work on sand. Or mud.

Making them shouldn’t be too difficult with circular knitting needles. I’d just need to know the diameter of the wheels. I have a wheelchair that I’m not using at the moment. I could use that to experiment with.

The main issue would be the yarn. It would have to be hard-wearing, so something synthetic is probably best. Then there’s the thickness of the yarn. 4ply might wear out too quickly, so double knit might be better.

Am I taking wheelchair socks too seriously?

Well done for buying that kid a sledge hammer. Start as you mean to go on.

I was brought up on a series of really practical gifts and by the time I was 15 had a fully-functioning helicopter servicing and repair hangar. One year I asked for a Lego set and was promptly sent on a three month bricklaying course. I was only eight.

When my sister wanted a doll she ended up owning an orphanage. We promptly enrolled each other and put ourselves up for adoption.

You don’t get childhoods like that anymore.

Al.

That kid! will be 33 next week. When she was 8months old - she bashed a hole in her dolly’s pushchair with a lump hammer.

Recently, l had to replace the fridge - it is integrated. Daughter fitted it for me - screwed the cabinet doors on - no problem. Saved me having to get ‘a man in’.

Did no one buy you socks as a boy AD? Is that the reason for the sock fixation? Or did you ask for socks and end up with a knitting pattern, wool and some needles? Or a treasure map enabling you to orienteer your way to the nearest M&S?

It does seem that your somewhat unusual childhood may have caused you (and presumably your sister?) some ehem, ‘psychological difficulties’. At least it appears that way from my standpoint as a completely unqualified expert on the matter.

Sue

Well done for getting The Kid her own lump hammer before her 1st birthday. There aren’t many 8 month olds who can get one of those in the air.

When did she get her first screwdriver?

A.

we shoud all train our kids in the use of screwdrivers.

it will come in handy for my loose screws!!

You have no need to apologise for joining in the utter lunacy that is this thread. If you feel you belong here, then I’m afraid you do.

And this is another post to bring us ever closer to the magic number 700.

Sue

  • Away you go u would think it was the 500 Spartans .I can do sock speak as well what colour or texture can I tantalize you with wait a minute I’m all out of???
  • Only joking my friends as for brain fog ,freeze or ever what? S$@that./+now I can’t think of the word now . does this count for brain doing the time warp? Yesterday at m s centre when I was describing my blackout I seemed to lose the plot and just said it was channel coco she tried to not laugh at me or was it the wee blue owls on the front of my socks…??

At least it wasn’t blue owls weeing on the front of your socks. That wouldn’t have been funny at all.

Blue Owls!

Now there’s a subject we haven’t covered.

Who want’s to kick this one off?

You big girl’s ‘blueowls’

I suppose the subject really should cover, not just blue owls, but patterned socks in general.

Personally I am not in favour. I prefer my socks to be single coloured, aka monochrome. And I do rather like to have them, if not matching shoes / trousers / etc exactly, then at least not be a horrible contrast. Mostly because I end up looking at them quite a lot as my feet are habitually raised in front of me (on the wheelchair seat for instance).

This is not meant to disparage your wee blue owls Rosie, or in fact any colour owls (wee or otherwise) adorning anyone’s socks. Just a matter of preference.

If you are still getting the tinnitus, maybe try this white noise ap. ‎White Noise Lite on the App Store

It has a range of sounds, such as rain on tin roof, rainforest etc. It helps me a bit. Though I would need aeroplane landing in front room ap to cover up all the sounds.

Go on. Someone say it.

Then we can get on with the bloody thread!

I choose my socks in several ways. Most of them are men’s socks from M&S, black or dark grey with coloured toes and heels. I often choose socks with toe colours to go with my trousers. I have a pair of Christmas socks that come out once a year. I have some stripey socks that I wear when I’m feeling low and want to cheer myself up. I have long socks for cold days and silly socks for when I’m in a silly mood. Not forgetting my fluffy socks for just lounging around.

Who’s going to do post 700?
