Well I’ve looked on Brian fog’s post and am somewhat dismayed that no-one has wished our Sssuuee happy birthday!!! I know this is a tad late in the day, but I did ring , or wake, Susu at 8.30 this morning to sing at her!
I’ve been out galavanting with Boudica’s Beautiful Bev. We had lunch in posh House of Fraser, with cheesecake…My weekly treat!
I enjoyed a bit of retail therapy, which is the best kind, and am now all tucked up in bed, checking what daftness is on Brian Fog’s post!!
Hope Sue has had a wonderful 50th! You do know it’s all down hill from now don’t you Sue?
And for the wake up chorus of ‘happy birthday to you’. Not to mention the question about what colour socks I was planning on wearing today!!
Not that I knew. I believe my answer was something like ‘mpht, no awake yet, don’t know!’ But it’s the thought that counts.
I have to say having a sore throat / cough on ones birthday doesn’t count among my desired list of gifts. I blame my fellow passengers on the BA flight from Edinburgh to Gatwick on Sunday.
Still as you say Boudica, I might as well enjoy being 50 if it’s going down hill from here.
I was awoken with a question about socks. Thank you Poll. I have informed her that my socks today were red, quite long, thick and snuggly. What I omitted to tell her was that they were new socks bought by myself in preparation for going to Scotland where I expected it to be colder than down south. More fool me. It’s been about 2 degrees warmer than Sussex. So just the thing for today. There have been no socks received as gifts. But then I informed my friends that I didn’t want any gifts as my life it full of everything I could possibly want or need. That obviously was a cheap ploy to get extra gifts including socks. Thus far the only person to ignore me is our very own Boudica. Apart from some very suspect looking biscuits from my Scottish friends.
More fool me. The only time anyone took anything I said seriously and it has woefully backfired.
And another thing. I was planning to celebrate my birthday over several events. The weekend in Scotland was one. Which was OK, but rather insanitary as the accessible room did not even have an accessible sink to wash in. I just about managed to wash my face leaning precariously over the bath. At least I took perfume.
Today being my actual birthday was the second event, to be celebrated with lovely wine (the kind we don’t share with our friends) and beautiful food. What I have enjoyed most today has been linctus and lemsip.
Then I had some friends coming to visit from Pollyland (ie West Yorkshire) on Thursday. I’ve just had to cancel them due to ill health.
Then on Saturday I was planning on dinner with another good friend. She has to work.
Pants. That’s what this birthday has been. Nasty man made scratchy pants at that. I’m calling it quits now. No more will I plan a birthday (& btw, this was the first birthday I have even slightly celebrated for at least 10 years).
I shall be rescheduling the cake, fizzy wine, nice food, chocolate truffles, more wine from the posh wine shop and what the hell, maybe some new socks too. Just as soon as I can last 5 minutes without coughing or blowing my nose.
