HI friends, how is everyone well another sat night watching tv and trying to read. Right hand been silly does not want to hold book, So hubby said can you get a stand or something to hold book on my knee l looked in a old youreable book and found bookchair, looks just whats needed.

So guys any one used one? any good? Its my birthday soon may put it on birthday list.

Many thanks for your input Regards Jan

Hi Jan, thought about trying Kindle? (other makes are available… lol…).

I read a lot and usually prefer the good old fashioned paper book… but also have a kindle which is very good esp when I’m not up to much… mainly because they are so light and you don’t have to hold the page open. I sometimes read it with a pillow on my lap and the kindle on it, so I’m not touching it at all… except to press button to go to next page… but I think the new ones you don’t even do that, you just touch the screen.

The other big advantage is you can get what you fancy reading immediatly… excellent when you’re not able to go out to library or shops. Books that are out of copyright are free on Amazon, otherwise they are a bit cheaper than paper book.

Other big advantage is you can change to font size… so if your vision is wonky you can put it on big font with wide spacing.

Disadvantages are you can’t lend a book (well I think there is a way that you can lend kindle to kindle but I’ve never done it) and I tend to get a lot of books from charity shops, friends, and I like to support local library… but I don’t think you need to commit to one or the other. Use books and kindle.

I have seen a book holder which sits on your lap advertised somewhere but can’t remember where.

Hope you’re having a nice Sunday Jan.

Great Jan… glad it’s worked well for you! These clever little inventions make life so much easier.

Oh I do envy you sitting in front of a real fire!!! I miss it so much that I bought a dvd called ‘fireplace’ which is just a film of a real fire! Sounds nuts but is very cosy and comfy and I often put it on when I’m reading. It’s even got the sound of the fire!

Take care hon and keep warm. It was snowing when I woke up this morning and is still snowing now… 8.30 pm. Hasn’t stopped at all. Unusual for London.

Luckily I’ve put my supermarket order in to be delivered Tuesday morning…
